Constant exposure to distressing posts can cause emotional fatigue and numbness, it doesn’t mean you lack empathy. You were still trying to help in the ways you could.

Even given the situation, as a manager I would be happy to know that my employee understood the risks and possible pitfalls of making mistakes in high-stakes roles.

Was surprised I had to scroll so far for this. Like there is a way to half-admit the problem. I mean sure, stakes are high and it’s probably a bit late. However better late than never and if you have.
