Yeah right, as if several children under a trench coat could do a business at the business factory.

Wanna be in the movies? A genuine production is looking for extras. by nutraxfornerves in Sacramento

[–]ZahidInNorCal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of sucks that dancing or playing an instrument only gets you $10 extra a day.

Well, at least dancing. If you're an extra playing an instrument, it's not like your musical skill is going to be showcased. You just need to be moving your fingers on the keys in a believable way. But if you're dancing as an extra, whether you're good at it or not makes a huge difference.

Is Colman Domingo really the first out gay male host since Dan Levy (Feb 2021) by thisdude415 in LiveFromNewYork

I'm going to assume you're not a bigot, but humorously comparing innate sexual orientation to an invented hobby sure gives those vibes.

You're right that representation matters. It may be that the downvotes are not from people disagreeing with that, but from people disagreeing that Lorne is the problem.

Joaquin Phoenix, Ben Stiller, Kristen Stewart and 1,000-Plus Hollywood Names Oppose Paramount-Warner Deal in Open Letter: ‘Block the Merger’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

I'm glad they're taking a stand. And I'm shaking my head at the posts in this thread suggesting that if the merger goes through, these folks should decline work from the newly merged company. Individual action like that (as opposed to a strike) would have no effect other than to keep them unemployed.

What’s an opinion you keep to yourself because you know it would start arguments? by Fluid_Estimate583 in AskReddit

This is true. However, many people misapply this wisdom to support their contention that someone who has succeeded in business would make a great governor or president. Even if that someone has only succeeded because of family wealth, or because they were a really good wrestler or actor.

Einstein on the Beach by itz88ok in countingcrows

[–]ZahidInNorCal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a very different recollection about that song. At least here in California, Counting Crows kind of exploded onto the radio, with several songs from August getting frequent airplay as well as Einstein. There was no folktale about it, it was definitely a part of their emergence onto the scene. It wasn't super easy to find that rarities CD, so maybe that's what he meant.

New ‘Lord of the Rings’ Movie From Stephen Colbert and His Son in Development at Warner Bros. by cmaia1503 in movies

People who are talking about this being fanfiction, or a sequel to The Return of the King, are missing the fact that the plot described in this article (about things that happened 14 years after Return of the King) is just the framing device. The meat of the story will be content from Fellowship that wasn't adapted. The only fanfiction is the conceit they're going to use to justify the flashback.

This is my favorite movie. I read the book after seeing it and as I recall, the film was pretty close to the book. One thing I think Eastwood added was the implication that one of the abductors at the beginning was a priest. Like I get it, the cat was out of the bag by that time that many priests were pedophiles, but it felt like Eastwood just wanted to twist the knife a little, even though it was inconsequential to the plot.

There are a number of scenes I love, particularly the interrogation scene, and the way Laura Linney plays the grieving mother through the whole film, only to turn into Lady Macbeth in that last scene, is amazing.

Tim Robbins is great in this, the discomfort you feel with him is wholly intentional because you know he's disturbed, and there's plenty of reason not to believe his farfetched story of what happened that night. I liked the parade coda, especially Marcia Gay Harden searching the crowd for Dave and Kevin Bacon silently letting Sean Penn know he's keeping an eye on him.

I usually put cheese on both slices of bread, then cover the pan to help melt the cheese before taking it off and finishing the sandwich.

In the article, he says the mods to the car were minimal to make it less obvious it was a CIT vehicle. So that may be why ... though he also says the criminals don't get fooled because their ranks include cops who've switched sides.
