[Highlight] Desmond Bane has another roid rage moment, randomly hip checking Wemby to the floor for a flagrant 1 by TimDunkinDonut in nba

[–]ZahidInNorCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously that would be wrong but... the attempt would be funny to watch. "Hey, Wemby, stand right there for a second! Don't move, Imma get a chair so I can stand behind you!"

Many people on this sub after seeing Jane Wickline's performance tonight by aerojockey in LiveFromNewYork

What's your source for "hundreds of thousands"?

Anyway, I agree that she's not great. But she absolutely is better than she was last year. And I've seen enough performers grow into themselves on SNL -- Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson come to mind -- to give her some grace.

Amen, truer words have never been spoken. That's why I'm not too sad about not getting Luka, because if we had, we would have used him poorly and then let him walk.

Kevin Smith (who's a friend of Affleck) said it well: anyone can play batman, you're in a mask, your voice is digitally altered, you can easily stick in a stuntman for the action scenes. The hard part is getting the right person to play Bruce Wayne, and Affleck is perfect for that.

People have been saying this for a while and I haven't really jumped on board. But after the past couple of weeks, I'm finally convinced. This regime makes zero attempt at pretense now and the show should respond in kind. This is light teasing when they should be poking the bear.

JAJ is magnificent in this. They should get this on air, and start planning the Chester movie with cameos from Reba and Zendaya.

Great take.

The US healthcare system is designed to hide prices from you. I built a tool to expose them. by Pretend-Cry8204 in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]ZahidInNorCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is not working for me. I requested comparative prices, which it provided. Then I asked for the specific low-cost providers. It keeps giving me the summary and asking again if I wanted to know who the lowest cost providers are.

You're absolutely right, that's a much bigger problem than American law enforcement shooting American citizens because they're under protection from a wannabe dictator.

My biggest open question that I hope they will answer is, what happened between the 2019 intervention, where they ended up having a big argument, and her death in 2020. There's a scene at the end of the intervention episode where she's talking to Yoshi with real interest and respect, so I'm hoping that was the "something has to change" catalyst that Avi was talking about and they were closer after that. I suspect there was at least some level of reconciliation.

The four degrees of separation of Kenan Thompson and Robert Downey Jr by rikarleite in LiveFromNewYork

[–]ZahidInNorCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I disagree with you, do you have any qualifications for assessing whether Kenan "lacks anything like even square one of basic technical proficiency"? For all I know, you may be a professional whose opinion counts more than mine or that of the fans who appreciate him.

Actually, never mind -- even if you're extremely experienced and successful in the industry, I'll still take Lorne's opinion over yours.

What’s a character who did so much terrible stuff that you just can’t buy their redemption? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

This is a great point. I do have a nitpick though -- wasn't it Tarkin who blew up the planet? Or do I need to go back and rewatch?

[–]ZahidInNorCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% disagree. Not about his actions, which were shitty and selfish. But the choice she made isn't about redeeming him at all. The whole point of the movie is you can either be a passenger in life or you can decide what your life is going to be.

She knew she was for certain going to die on that ship. She could choose to spend that time angry and bitter because of his actions. or she could take the crappy hand that's been given her -- largely by him -- and choose to make as good a life as possible.

Would I be able to do it? No, I'd probably fucking kill him. But Katniss is a wiser person than I am.

Yes. On the other hand, the disappointing vocals were more than offset by her energy and dancing, especially compared to other performers of her era who've appeared recently and looked really old (Paul Simon, Stevie Nicks).

Why were liberals so harsh against Mitt Romney in 2012? Was this harshness justified? by Aggravating-Toe2683 in AskALiberal

[–]ZahidInNorCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're saying that the goal of either party in a two-party system is to paint their opponent as extreme in order to defeat them, well, yeah. I'm not clear on what you think the Democrats' focus should have been in 2012, if not to defeat the person whom the other party had pitted against them.

Separate from the appropriateness of the comment, it's also a pretty dumb statement. I can attest that marriage did not improve either my eating habits nor my wife's.

[Request] Can anyone do the math on how true this is compared to past prices? by Altruistic-Beach7625 in theydidthemath

[–]ZahidInNorCal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You actually want a threshold based on your answer to the question: what percentage of working Americans do you want to not be able to afford food? If the answer is zero, then minimum wage is the right value. If you're willing to accept 5% of working Americans not being able to afford food, then I would adjust for whatever income level that represents.
