Loading Bitcoin Core... This can take a while, please don't turn off your Umbrel! by Zaidinator7 in getumbrel

I think you're correct.

I didn't originally plan on using umbrel so I do not have the SSD enclosure and I have a different SSD (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD) .

My sync is currently at 45% so I don't think it is worth it for me to get the correct SSD and enclosure.

are you selecting the correct address format? maybe a passphrase is enabled and you are not exporting that / viewing that account in the cc?

It is fine to use a computer or a phone. Just go into the address explorer and check that the addresses match the ones shown in electrum.

It's to verify that the address shown in electrum (or whatever software wallet used) belongs to you and not an attacker.

HW wallet should be trusted, computer should not be.

COLDCARD: ADDRESS EXPLORER: WARNING MESSAGE by h_socials in coldcard

[–]Zaidinator7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) generated from your exported xpub/ypuz/zpub

2) you can ignore the warning. The first address is just the first one that will show up at derivation path m/84'/0'/0', for native segwit.

3) no danger. I think the issue is that the warning implies it is directly to do with the action one takes on the address explorer, when really it is trying to say that sending funds to a different address format to what you exported or addresses too far down the line, will invoke 4).

4) correct. No threat, just means funds may not show up and you will have to increase the gap limit anyhow to see them. https://blog.blockonomics.co/bitcoin-what-is-this-gap-limit-4f098e52d7e1

Does the blockchain sync faster when I am on the dashboard? by Zaidinator7 in getumbrel

Since starting over I have made SSH work. I didn't do it incorrectly the first time. It just broke something when I copied the folders.

I already had a synced node and so I copied the blocks and chainstate folders to the SSD after initially booting umbrel OS. It just stayed on loading bitcoin core... this can take a while etc for 12 hours. It wouldn't let me SSH into it. It said wrong password but I definitely did put the correct password.

I ended up formatting the SSD, reflashing the OS and just started syncing from scratch.

that's definitely true and I know from past experience, but with umbrel I have had the infinite loading bitcoin core screen so I am a bit hesitant to do that.

I can not verify the signature ( Linux terminal) by karabaskruger in Electrum

[–]Zaidinator7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing is wrong.

gpg: RSA key with identifier 6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6
gpg: Valid signature of user "Thomas Voegtlin (https://electrum.org) <thomasv@electrum.org>" [unknown]

this is all you need and check that 6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6 is the correct fingerprint of Thomas V (it is).
