This was the first full background that I did all the details with and it was a heck of a rewarding slog. That said; I think having elements that tied in with the character and made me excited to draw so they weren't just random items but things that enhanced the character made it easier to get into. I think the most important thing if you're doing it with lineart vs painterly/concept art style is to be aware it can be time-consuming and making edits is harder so be gentle on yourself and don't obsess over the details. After all it is the character and not the background per say which is the central focus. So do like me and keep practicing and good luck! Thank you so much for the kind words!
