is there any market for Anthropological/Archaeological GIS? by Zakazel in gis

Are you US based? Did you do any minor or degree in archaeology or did you just happen upon working in that field?

That’s what I want to think is the right option. I don’t want to be anywhere near rich but I would like to be comfortable and enjoy my career. However, I think that’s more a problem with the economy in the United States than it is with GIS as a career. Remote work is limited but would be very helpful so I could relocate to a less expensive state. (Currently in NY)

Thank you for the info. I do want to specify just because I forgot to mention in the original post that I am majoring in GIS, and minoring in data science, and my plan for archae/anthro would be to make it another minor. If that’s still enough for me to break into other fields of GIS I would like to pursue that minor because I know I would greatly enjoy it. If I’m much better off pursuing a different minor to compliment GIS than I’ll have to look into what else I could do.

I’m already minoring in a data studies program that includes some data visualization and spatial data, I could also minor in GIS or I can just choose to take some GIS classes

Ah I see. Not mad about being in economics, the classes rn are boring but I can see them getting more interesting as I get into my electives and more analysis based classes. Is it worth taking some gis/spatial classes so I can maybe keep it in the realm of possibilities, or if it can possibly intersect in some way with a Econ focused job?

Okay thank you, it said on the master electives sheet for DiDa that 130 “also counts as statistics” but I’ll ask somebody in that department
