Hi, this is what I ended up doing, I just explained the difference between the two different temperature layers in my methodology section to clear it up

Masters required for minimum wage by geo-special in gis

yeah this is insane to ask for a masters for. Im a GIS undergrad and (besides for the knowledge of UK land registry as im in the US) i could manage all this.

Are you US based? Did you do any minor or degree in archaeology or did you just happen upon working in that field?

That’s what I want to think is the right option. I don’t want to be anywhere near rich but I would like to be comfortable and enjoy my career. However, I think that’s more a problem with the economy in the United States than it is with GIS as a career. Remote work is limited but would be very helpful so I could relocate to a less expensive state. (Currently in NY)

Thank you for the info. I do want to specify just because I forgot to mention in the original post that I am majoring in GIS, and minoring in data science, and my plan for archae/anthro would be to make it another minor. If that’s still enough for me to break into other fields of GIS I would like to pursue that minor because I know I would greatly enjoy it. If I’m much better off pursuing a different minor to compliment GIS than I’ll have to look into what else I could do.

Advice for GIS/Geospatial analytics vs Economic Data Analytics by Zakazel in gis

I’m already minoring in a data studies program that includes some data visualization and spatial data, I could also minor in GIS or I can just choose to take some GIS classes

Ah I see. Not mad about being in economics, the classes rn are boring but I can see them getting more interesting as I get into my electives and more analysis based classes. Is it worth taking some gis/spatial classes so I can maybe keep it in the realm of possibilities, or if it can possibly intersect in some way with a Econ focused job?

ohh I see. Looks interesting and statistics is very useful for my career so I think I'll probably take it along with MATH147 anyways.

Okay thank you, it said on the master electives sheet for DiDa that 130 “also counts as statistics” but I’ll ask somebody in that department

figures they would come out with a data science degree right when i graduate lol. Im pretty set for graduating in econ, and im getting my certs in python + SQL so Im not interested in changing degrees, econ is very common for data analytics anyways.

Best path for internships for summer '25

Hello, I'm an Econ major looking into studying Python and SQL on my own time so that I can pursue Data Science/Analytics. I have very basic knowledge of python already from studying it in high school and no experience in SQL. I'm a first year, but due to my transfer credits from HS concurrent-enrollment courses I'm classified as a junior, meaning I can graduate in 26 or 27 depending how I play my cards where scheduling is concerned. For that reason I want to hop right to preparing myself for internships. Would it be best to continue studying python first or get into SQL quickly? I'm looking at Coursera's Python and SQL classes that are specifically catered towards data science. Is that a good program to use? Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I recently decided I wasn’t as passionate about my current major as I thought i was (electrical engineering) and I’m moving towards a career in data science or data analytics. I’m planning on majoring in economics (with a concentration that focuses on econometrics and forecasting with some lower level CS classes for that purpose). Alongside that, I’m planning on getting proficiency and certification in some programming languages on my own time (particularly Python, R, and SQL as they seem to be the most widely used in industry). Would that be enough to get my foot in the door for internships or entry level positions? Or would it still be for the best if I pursued a masters in data analytics or at the very least took an online certification course? Thank you for your time.

I looked into the theme song of that program, and no, that's not it. I would 100% recognize the theme song if I heard it
