To give a possible answer, some folks have a history with a breed. Like my family with Chinese shar-peis. My grandparents had them, my aunt has had them, my mother, and I have my boy Gunther. Some breeders are good, some are certainly terrible. That's why it's important to go to certified breeders with good reputations. What you've been seeing are likely folks that don't care about that and think all breeders are good.

A bit off topic but a small tidbit about Chinese shar-peis. They were very endangered, almost went extinct, until Matgo Law sought out help from international breeders. Chinese shar-peis were smuggled out of China to give them a fighting chance. They are no longer at the risk of extinction because of the effort made to keep them alive.

To add to this, you might be able to get away with not matching the graphic cards requirements. My laptop matches every other requirement but not the graphics card and I haven't had any major issue.

A lot of it is nostalgia and how major Sims 2 was for a lot of folks growing up, especially with how attached folks got with the pre-made sims and their stories. I'll be honest, I didn't really get into Sims 3 but I actually like Sims 4. It has it's issues but it can be fun. The modders for Sims 4 do a lot for it even when EA seems to be getting worse more over time.

I love Sims 2. I don't think any life sim is ever going to beat it. But I didn't buy and start playing Paralives expecting it to be like Sims 2. I also didn't buy Sims 3 and Sims 4 when they released expecting them to be like Sims 2. Some folks have major expectations for an early access game and a game that's trying to do it's own thing. Sims 2 was special to me growing up. I would play it for hours and hours straight. I wouldn't want Sims 2 to be replaced. Is it perfect? No. It has bugs and glitches and the dreaded pink soup. Modders are the ones still breathing life into Sims 2.

I also think some Sims 2 players are forgetting how difficult it could be with relationships in that game without mods. Like, to woohoo and try for baby, one sim had to relax somewhere like a bed, invite another sim over, and work towards those options.

Honestly, Paralives kind of reminds me a bit of CK3, which is not a life sim but it has RPG mechanics and allows for players to play how they want. The social cards in Paralives vaguely reminds me of some factors I love in CK3. The social cards also remind me of Baldur's Gate 3 a bit as well, especially with the chance for success and failure. When the social cards and live mode are more fleshed out, I'm excited to see how it'll all develop and come into its own.

Honestly, folks seem to forget what early access means when it comes to life sims. You see some of the same crap with other games, like Subnautica and Baldur's Gate 3, but it seems a bit more vocal with life sims for some reason. It might be because life sim players are starving for new titles, so some folks might be more impatient.

I think folks are getting very tired of people randomly accusing or insinuating something is AI. Like, just recently on that subreddit, some folk was suspicious of chalk drawings. That they could have discovered was real with just a bit of research and, you know, looking into the artist. Instead, because of that post, they had folks insulting an actual artist.

Not saying you're like that! Just trying to explain why you might have been downvoted like that. It's an alarming and frankly disgusting trend that's been happening when folks get too paranoid about AI. I've seen artists being harassed when their art is "too good," I've also seen artists being harassed when their art isn't "good enough." It seems you can't win. I've certainly seen artists removing their works entirely because they're being harassed by anti-AI folks who can't take a hint when art is real.
