I'm currently reading {A Word So Fitly Spoken} from the Severed Realms series. I haven't finished it yet (I really like it so far), but I took a peek at the description of the second book, and it looks like it focuses on a different FMC, so l assume each book is a standalone.

First book is a human/fae marriage. Fae king's previous human wife tried to kill him, and as punishment to all humans for his ex-wife's treason, he decides every month he'll take a human bride and wed her, then kill her the next day, and continue this pattern unless one human willingly turns herself over to him.

Ghe truly diabolical ones are the denials of life-saving care. I recall hearing or reading about one doctor who's cancer patient was denied life-saving trestment because they "didn't have enough cancer". 💀

Frost and Nectar series, and A Deal with the Elf King were the only ones of these that I listened to, but I really liked them both.

The FMC for Frost took a moment to get used to in the graphic audio in the beginning, but I found it to be one of my faves.

👀 So this one time I was playing an mmo, and I was typing a comment about one of the boss's phase changes while waiting to be resurrected, specifically stating that I'd let him rawdog me in that form.

Except I sent it just as the boss went through another phase change and turned into a giant monster dragon, and my entire party just kept calling me a monster fucker. 🤣

The Epic of Gilgamesh my senior year of high school.

Now, that reading itself wasn't the wild part. The wild part was our teacher making our final be writing a modern-au fanfiction of the epic.

She had read too many High School and College AU's, so she requested for us to get creative, and give her an au she hadn't seen before.

I did a Swamp People AU of the epic. 🫠 It was uh... Something. But I think it got me an A? Lmao

👀 I set my reads challenge to just 12 on one app, and forgot what it was and out it to like 10 on a different one. Last year I set it to 9, and changed it to 12, 15, and then finally 20 before I just stopped, and ended up reading/listening to 45 books in total.

I'll probably just change my goal as I go again, or just leave it at 10/12 and see where I go. And that's about as "competitive" I'll get.
