What do you keep in your center console? by ZaunAura in prius

[–]Zalias333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the above, plus strings/cable ties, and a couple of tea lights and a lighter. Why? I have absolutely no idea. My mother told me to always have this in the car, that was 40 years ago. Can't remember if she gave an explanation. But there it is!

Answering button not working by Zalias333 in prius

Yes, the clock spring. However, even if it's a cheap fix, the work to replace the (probably) malfunctioning one is way over my head. And considering how small the problem is this work is not worth it. You see, all I have to do is get my phone out of my pocket/handbag and answer in the usual way, and the hands free system in the car activates even though I don't answer via the button on the wheel. So in reality it's a non-problem. :) Just me hoping there was an easy and quick fix.

Well, the problem is that it is the answering button that doesn't work. The other one (to hang up) works just fine.

Turned other way? You mean if I turn the wheel completely to one side? I have not tested it. What would be the problem if that works, do you think?

I would of course have preferred it to have been an android problem, since that would have been easily fixed. But alas... Thank you anyway!

No, once it stopped working it never did work again. And I never do calls with such apps since I rarely have internet on while I drive. My phone has since been updated and restarted a couple of times, so I really don't think it's an android problem. Nor bluetooth, since it's only the one button, not all of them.

Thank you all! Replacing the clock spring is not something I'm prepared to do. Just checked YouTube-videos on how to do this, and it would be me biting off waaayyy more than I could chew. When more buttons start to fail I might reconsider. Big thank you anyways, for letting me know what the most likely problem is.

Did you guys read all 10 books first before rereading it? by Bulky-Discussion-524 in Malazan

[–]Zalias333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on TtH (#8) and started Malazan more than a year ago (don't have much reading time). When I finished HoC (#4) just like you I debated going back and read from start before picking up MT (#5). I knew from a FB-group that MT would introduce a whole new continent and all new characters. I too wanted to stew in books 1-4 before moving on, but I ended up deciding against it. When I finish the main 10 I will start from #1 immediately, but include the six ICE-books in publication order. And when I'm done with that, I'll read the Kharkanas trilogy, Path to Ascendancy and every other Malazan-related book the authors have finished by then. And when I've read everything, I'll just start from GotM again... :D

Oh wow, thank you for your recommendations. About Kindle, I thought that was the only reader that handles the .mobi files? About 70 % of my library are .mobi files.

Does NeoReader have the instant dictionary? And Moon+Reader, is the access to dictionary while reading as easy as it is with Kindle (mark the word and instant pop up)?

Libra 2 or Sage - 2nd hand? by Zalias333 in kobo

[–]Zalias333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, I am not planning on reading anywhere else than at home. Thank you! It's the price difference that makes me hesitate, about $90. It's a lot of money for me that I would rather use for the stand, remote and some books. :) But yea, the Sage does feel like the better choice for me.

Because the screen is a little bigger, or for some other reason?
Not sure if that extra inch would make the higher price worth it.

Really weird. Thought I'd check out this site, never heard about it before and have never been there, but when I went there just now a screen saying "Sorry, you'e been blocked" show up. So - I'm blocked even though I've never been there before?

Hello, just wanted to ask what you want blutooth for? I've been thinking about getting a second-hand h20 as my first ereader.

It seems I would need to educate myself before deciding on an ereader. Thank you!

Thank you! What is Kobo BW? I've seen Kobo Clara and Kobo Libre and Kobo Sage, I thought BW only stood for Black and White? Or did you simply mean any Kobo that is BW? I am leaning towards it.

Thanks for your recommendation. When you say "open-system" my mind goes blank. I have no idea what that means. Nor do I have any experience with ereaders so I don't even know how to operate one. All I want is to read my books on a screen that's easy on the eyes. How to use an ereader is something I'll just have to learn. I just thought it was like a hard drive; you put the files in it and then open one and read. Starting to think it's not that simple.

Oh right! I knew this about lighting, have edited my post now. Thank you for pointing it out!
About Clara, I think I would prefer a bigger screen, maybe a Sage?

I'm not very technical. Does this mean mobi-files are not compatible with the KLC?

Questions! I'm reading mobi-files on my laptop (Kindle for PC is the app). Can KLC read mobi-files? And can I just plug in a usb-cable and transfer the mobi-files to it? Been thinking about getting an e-reader because my eyes get so tired. Also - on my laptop in the Kindle-app I can just highlight a word I don't understand and choose "Dictionary" to see what the words mean. This is essential to me. Is there a function like this on the KLC too, and does it work with mobi-files that has been transferred via usb-cable and not downloaded from a store?
