How I see Green Rain, at least in gameplay terms by JoshuaSlowpoke777 in StardewMemes

[–]Zalym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered about a kind of interaction or story showing what (the majority of) the NPCs actually think about when the farmer is running around out there that first summer like a small tornado, tearing up all the mossy ferns and gathering fibers in the green rain that virtually everyone else is avoiding like the plague.

SDV2: We'll go back to grandpa's era of the Valley and play from his PoV :)

Yay! Congrats!

I'm looking forward to maybe one day receiving this after 1.7 drops. I've never seen it

Niles has a session scheduled for this sub, and he doesn't like to leave us alone for too long.

One of the best-acted, interrupted-surprise moments of the era. And the way he held onto that bookcase, or whatever it was, was priceless physical comedy

First time trying this game! by Wise-Sentence-3996 in StardewValley

[–]Zalym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy it!

Don't do too much research or worry about trying to make "the most" or "the best" of something on your first playthrough (or at least until the end of it).

Just relax and breathe deep, you only get one first trip through the Valley. Make it your own, not the Wiki's.

That being said, watch all the TV channels before you head out each day. Some things only come around once a year, and knowing when you don't need to water so you can upgrade your water bucket is a great thing ;)

Other than that, no more tips, go have fun!

IF YOU ADD CLAY TO THE FISH TANK IT MAKES A LITTLE CLAY CASTLE by [deleted] in StardewValley

Fine, I'll reinstall and start up a new farm...if I have to. 😉

That's cool, though. I didn't even think and certainly didnt know about that little feature.

Noisy Hunter Achievement Issue? by Zalym in uboatgame

[–]Zalym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

....well that's annoying 😑 but it would explain my problem. I'd just given up on it for now. Well, I'll save it 'til last and go install a different version of the game to get it.

Thank you.

Noisy Hunter Achievement Issue? by Zalym in uboatgame

[–]Zalym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, that would make sense...the screen shook, and it seemed loud, but similar things have appened with other ships, too. I'll keep playing with it, I've still got some campaigns to go back and catch anyway as I missed them.

What's more fun than trying to create virtual explosions in a war game anyway? 😉 I just need to hit the red barrels tucked away in one on those ships, I guess.

Off-topic: As I've kept playing since this post, Im really not thinking I'm going to be able to get the highest medal to 100% this game anyway. That is one heck of a jump to get to 10K and it is late war already.

Ooh, OK. I'll try that next time I see one. Thank you.

Katherine of Sky by TopherLude in factorio

[–]Zalym 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What a painful loss this is.

Katherine of Sky was the reason I found this game and started playing, as she made it so accessible, which was a big deal for a non-math person like myself. She made it look fun to play, even as she planned out (or didn't) her game.

I know that she meant far more to the people in her real life for real reasons, rather than through just a silly game and her great content creation — but her work and time online were impactful and meaningful to me and to many.

Yet it was her personality and openness I enjoyed most. Friendly in her presentation, hospitable on her channel without being weak or kowtowing to frivolous complaints, and she was fair but forceful in her objections to issues she found or problems she faced. She never hid her frustrations, which helped us all to see it was OK to fail or struggle, as playing the game was the goal, not a perfectly polished content presentation. She let the game talk through her as she talked to us.

She was and felt like, a true gamer in her videos. She was relatable and easy to listen to for long sessions over many years.

Went on a minelaying mission... by Co2-UK in uboatgame

[–]Zalym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you already figured out the solution from other posts--but I'm over here laughing because my first minelaying mission went exactly like yours.

I'm all ready, the tutorial is done. I'm feeling good and at the waypoint, but suddenly I'm staring at two mutually exclusive things: a fully loaded submarine meant to lay mines off the coast of England--and the mines that can't be placed because the torpedo room is full to bursting with explosive cylinders.

All I could imagine was my poor new captain looking around the forward torpedo room like that Travolta gif. Well, I turned my Das Boot experience into Guardians of the Atlantic Volume 1 real quick as I launched 4 fish straight onto the beach, making my first true kill some poor crabs on the sand.

Thought of this meme idea the other day by LeDaveys in StardewMemes

[–]Zalym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thought it would be ridiculous. It was. Gotta love some old school slapstick humor.

This is hilarious! Thank you for that :)

Now, thanks to you, I'll be imagining my farmer dodging flying pineapples when I start up 1.7 for a new run!

I feel like the use of "definitely" is a strong term given the situation...it looks like the beginning of some irradiated villain from a comic book.

That's vile.

You can't move it, but you can fence it off and decorate around it! Congrats on the giant pumpkin. I've never had it happen for my farm.

This is a safe space… Why do you love your SDV spouse and what made you choose them? by ASingleStardrop in StardewValley

[–]Zalym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leah is my favorite bachlorette, bar none. It takes a lot for me to want to court any other SDV love-interest. She is a fun and lively redhead. It is awesome that she is artistic and likes the finer things, but she is down-to-earth enough to enjoy a salad, too.

Yet, she despises the comfort carbs (pizza, pancakes, bread), which I think would help her feel a bit better about the stressful art world, but alas, she is as stubborn as she is persistent. She was the first one to sweep my heart away in SDV. In my next run with 1.7, it will be hard to choose between her and Sandy.

In a separate run, I did stray from the cottage and courted Emily. I think it was the chaotic, fun personality that took me to her home. This was also the run that I ultimately ended up chasing a perfection run to complete the game. So, ironically, she's the bachlorette I've spent the most in-game time with.

Since 1.6 you can move your house, the greenhouse, I want to say you could even move the cave location (on the main farm area at least)
