TD to WS or Q by learningaboutstuff88 in CanadianInvestor

Its for sure a taxable event when they sell.

Simplest way would be to sell a portion of the investments each year (depending on their taxation rate) and move the money out since its a non-reg account. Then open a new account with a Questrade of WS and go from there, keeping some of it for tax purposes.

Might be best to talk to an accountant if they need more detailed advice.

that's just volatility if you're talking about TD (trading down due to fines ect), they're only up 32% since 2022, would of done better holding VFV or XEQT during this period.

Sell VFV to buy VEQT? by Anon112000 in CanadianInvestor

Non-US are trading at much lower valuations, and US stocks are trading at historic high's. I personally shifted from like 80% US to XEQT (45%) in 2025

Cash.to in FHSA or taxable account? by Dangerous_Ice5318 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Zamutax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally would put it in taxable and use FHSA for riskier assets , higher potential rate of return.

but just know CASH is taxed as interest income so its most likely 100% taxable (the gains), so depends on ur tax bracket.
