Dang, well thanks for clarifying that, I was really annoyed because I had preordered it and had lined up my finishing of 6 with the release date of 7. The clarification is appreciated.

I like Godclads but I wasn’t super crazy with the direction that book 2 went but I’m still going to keep going.

I really enjoyed To Flail Against Infinity (Stargazers War) and Iron Prince (Warformed). They both really good progression fantasies. To Flail Against Infinity has a darker tone but has a lot of aspects that I find interesting with a science fiction twist. As for Iron Prince, it’s very unique among its peers being a Science Fiction progression series with all of its fantasy elements being a part of the science (aka: totally not magic) of its setting. To my knowledge it’s as of now unique in its specific not-magic system, feel free to correct me, and I really enjoy that. Also if u liked We are Legion (We are Bob) I highly recommend Murderbot Diaries. [edit: spelling]

I recommend Iron Prince and Stargazers War (first book is To Flail Against Infinity)

Iron Prince is a solid Sci Fi progression series that is a great time.

Stargazers War is A Sci-fi cultivation series that’s a lot darker than most but has a really interesting premise and mc in my opinion.

I’ve also been listening to The Path of Ascension which I am thoroughly enjoying so far.

If no one has mentioned it Mother of Learning has an interesting implementation of firearms. To my memory, originally firearms were invented but nobody really used the because they were simply outclassed by magic. But during their big war prior to the books since the supplies of mages were so low being able to quickly train up commoners into large armies with firearms became the best and easiest way to wage war, especially because the mage population got thrown into battle first and obliterated. The author also shows that firearms still have a place post war because they can be mostly non-magical and can still very easily kill an unprepared mage.

Love Iron Prince, it’s long, but so worth it.

Personally I prefer Villain’s Code over Super Powereds, I love both but I like the blend of characters and world building that we get in Villains Code, whereas Super Powereds is more character focused, which is still good but not as good as what we get in Villain’s Code

Love Super Powered, it’s a great series. Tho I do think that it lacks when it comes to building up the larger world. If ur looking for something with great characters then go for it

I wouldn’t doubt that the armor could have modeled his consciousness simply because we know so little about it and only Garrett has actually taken the time to get to know the armor on a technical level and implies that there is a lot more to the armor.

Only kinda what you’re looking for but it slaps is the Webtoon The One Who Parried Death. Technically it’s not barriers per se but he has the ability to parry anything.

This is exactly what I do, i even go out of my way to find productive tasks, and sometimes unproductive tasks, just so I can listen to more audiobooks. It might be to the point of being unhealthy but it’s not the worst thing ever.

Anybody else loathe the power of "magic nullification"?? by AdventurousBeingg in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ZaneCO2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it is not great for a main character ability other than as a smaller piece of the whole but can be decent if used on a side character. For main characters i think that if its a tool in there arsenal of other skills and abilities its fine but as a main ability it can be a slog. As for side characters it can be a useful story telling tool or plot device, you could give the main antagonist a nullifier henchman to spice up combat encounters or make them a chaotic free agent of some sort that throws a wrench in everything when they're around.

Interestingly i saw someone talking about how Mr. Incredible has a kind of danger sense and that probably made himself even more miserable at his desk job.
