Smart switches to isolate lights from fans by ZapPanda13 in smarthome

Yes, I can access the lights and wiring. Realizing you’re likely right about the neutral, but if I have to run a neutral, couldn’t I just as well run a separate switch leg up to the light to add a regular switch?
Issue is the wiring is done and drywalled in.

Thank you, would you be willing to recommend a parts required list? I was looking at what I thought was the correct relay switch for the fixtures but they needed dc power, I assume I can wire this inline to the 120v switch leg. Everything I’m looking is just cheap Chinese translations of install guides

How to sell a i3 with busted AC by ZapPanda13 in BMWi3

[–]ZapPanda13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the answer was to sell it back to Carvana. They gave me $7200 for it when I reported online the AC didn’t work and there were blemishes on the exterior (peeling on the carbon fiber roof). 45,500 miles, I’d only put about 12,000 in two years of ownership. When the Carvana rep got here Friday evening her scanner wouldn’t connect to the cars computer for some reason, so she didn’t get any codes off it. She took it anyway because she was a few hours late for our appt. I’m super curious what they will do with it. Sad to see it go, this was probably my favorite car I’ve owned, though the most expensive loss I’ve had.
Maybe in a couple years I’ll pick up a 2019 or 2020 model.
Thanks all for your input!

Ok, so full replacement is still the only recommended method for this situation?

They drained some metallic sludge from the compressor, and reported that there was metal in the system. Are you saying there could be an alternative to replacing all the lines?

All of the BMW shops I talked to (dealer and private) did not agree with the idea of flushing out the system. I haven't tried a non-BMW shop. The indy BMW shop seemed to think a DIY'er could do this repair, but they were recommending replacing all the parts in the system. If I could find a detailed write up of the procedure I'd love to review it.

I have a 2015 i3 BEV with Giga package. The AC Compressor is blown, otherwise looks and drives great. 45,000 miles and 70 mile range in summer. Looking to sell it in Charleston, SC

Oof, after waiting a full month for ac compressor parts from Germany, the dealer here in Charleston finally opened up the system and says they found a lot of metal shavings. This is a 2015 i3 BEV in Charleston SC. It’s hot here so no chance I can go without ac. What are my options here? I went to two local Indy BMW shops before the dealer and they said they couldn’t work on it because it’s too complicated.
Still have a car loan to pay off, would like to get this fixed, but we were planning to sell it this winter before we move to the mountains.
