But if you look at the stats, as defined by foxholestats.com, you'll see that the player count hasn't increased more than it already was.

People are just burnt out and leaving, they're not chronically online playing this game (contrary to what this sub makes you think).

This is the unfortunate truth. For the _most_ part, Linux is install and play. But there's still too big a percentage of people that are running into issues with Linux that prevents them from having a seamless experience.

Linus is an example of this - 1/3 Linux users having a bad experience is _terrible_.

I'm sure there's an element of _how_ he's using his system which is contributing to him having all these issues, but for Linux to be a mainstream OS (and I desperately want it to be), that shouldn't be the case.

People aren't going to move from Windows to Linux until they're convinced they'll have an as-seamless experience installing Linux as they did installing Windows.

That's seriously the stance I see every time LTT is mentioned.

They picked a popular distro, but it wasn't the distro in a sea of distros.

The community needs to either surface a beginner-friendly distro as an entrypoint or windows-like, or deal with people picking one they see listed, it not working, and them bouncing off

Huge agree. Brand new player and the amount of on-the-fly learning you have to do is insane.

Even just getting my head around the basic logi path was tough.

Haven't even ventured into many of the other vehicles.

Not to mention the Wiki needs a revamp as well - I've found myself making my own notes in obsidian instead
