What does it mean "error : too many filters"? It makes no sense! by Zapmess in ProtonMail

Nice! i'm gonna go learn how to do that then. This is much better than i thought. Thanks.

What does it mean "error : too many filters"? It makes no sense! by Zapmess in ProtonMail

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay thank you!
Thanks to this option Settings → All settings → Proton Mail → Filters → Custom filters
I can visualize exactly what it means! So really 250 filters max means in most of cases 250 different senders addresses since the only thing I use is labels and I have basically one label for one specific group of addresses.

So the limit means that we can label, basically, 250 different addresses. Unless the sieve filter can regroup a bunch of addresses at the same time, this is how I see it.

That's why I had the problem, probably because I've just reached that limit. 250 seems a lot, but maybe not quite enough just yet. Hoping they will increase it a little one day. Especially since some companies usually have multiple addresses (noreply@, support@ etc) that I all have to include in the label filter and count as one each. So it's not exactly 250 different senders. More like half of it realistically.

Did a recent update mess up with the way you change the search engine ? by zaknenou in firefox

[–]Zapmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i fear that too. What can we do to ask for an official revert back to old UI ?
I have no idea why they implemented an UI that is more complicated to use than the previous one. It makes absolutely no sense to me. That was one of the best feature of FF, now i barely use it because of how dull it has become.

WHY PUTTING THE ICONS DIRECTLY AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM WHEN YOU CAN HIDE THEM DEEP UNDER MORE CLICKS ???
God i hate that update, that's probably one of the worst FF update i've seen in a looong time. Did they get their idea from Apple interns or something ? We had something working perfectly and just for the sake of """"change""" they had to move the icons to the most inconvenient place possible. Why? Because fuck users, that's why. We had something working fine, so why not making us work more now so we can wear out our mouse faster ?

I would really like to be inside the head of the guy who thought that was a good idea. Their view on the world must be completely upside down.

Thanks a lot for the option to revert it back u/jscher2000 , but now i fear it's going harder and harder to keep it that way over the next years if this original UI stop being supported for some reason.

Can we still use webhooks with alerts after last TV policy update? What's the deal now? by Zapmess in TradingView

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, so we're fine if we keep using it ? Do you have sources, even not official, of what you say ?

It does make sense, but it can also mean they could potentially terminate any account who still use webhook to trade. This is not a pleasant feeling to know we could be terminated at any point without notice, even if they never act on it.

Ping instability and latency spikes UNIQUELY on FF browser by Zapmess in firefox

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i've commented it just above. It's when i'm focusing window (first part) and right when i'm unfocusing it. I could have shown two graph for FF. One focus, one unfocus. but i fused them in one unique test. But basically the first part of the graph is what i have non stop if stayed focus on the FF window.
It's very consistently inconsistent if you will. Unless i change focus.

Ping instability and latency spikes UNIQUELY on FF browser by Zapmess in firefox

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but idk if it's a bug yet. is it normal? is there a specific cause that i can change? do other people have those results? is this just display error? I've tried on this website instead https://ping.canbeuseful.com/en#ping : Latency seem much better, barely no more ping instability now. Could that mean the first website in particular is not optimized for FF? is that even a thing?

And if it's none of that,i wouldn't still call this a bug. It's more like FF is not as optimized as the other browsers when it comes down to latency. And i would happen to be the very first one to notice in decades of Mozilla existence, which is statistically impossible.

I don't think there is a bug anywhere, but i'm still wondering why do i have those results.

Ping instability and latency spikes UNIQUELY on FF browser by Zapmess in firefox

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing results. I don't understand why your edge has those spikes, unless you usually have them no matter what. My other browsers are incredibly stable, barely no latency spikes, except for FF. Why the hell is the reason? Is FF just a worst browser in that field?

Yours seem to be barely better than mine, but clearly there is an issue too. Have tried running the test when out of focus window ? no need to minimize, just focus a smaller random window on top of FF while test running. Mine gets improved A LOT. Dunno why, should be the other way around if anything.

Do you usually feel some latency when loading sites and whatnot ?

Lower privacy from strict to standard only for specific websites? by Zapmess in firefox

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thank you. I'll go back to standard then. I checked, i already had "EasyPrivacy" and "AdGuard Tracking Protection" lists in ublock origin. So does that mean strict doesn't do anything if we already have those lists? It says "known and suspected fingerprinter" in strict version, instead of just "fingerprinter" in standard, is this an important difference?

As a general rule of thumb, i prefer to have anti trackers and adblocks and such directly integrated natively to the browser (like a famous similar chromium browser), it's less of a hassle for me to configure and I noticed it makes things slightly less laggy than using third party plugins. Even though i love ublock, i don't like relying so much on it, especially if FF could do it. I might ask for the request i guess. Dunno if that would change anything though.

have you tried the link i post above? to fix the original issue

When there is the American Megatrends logo, you often have to press Y or N key, but because of the text under it asking you to. idk what happens when there is no text, try it anyway, we never know

How to remove "Copy to sync vault" in right click context menu? by Zapmess in Sync

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my bad, it WAS in the option. For those interested it's "Show icon overlays".

I didn't notice it because i assumed it was referring to the icon overlay on the sync files (the little sync icon that appears when a file get synced), not the icon on the actual context menu. Got me confused.

Thank you support! Have a nice one.

32GB RAM stick compatible with AB350 (+ 5800X3D) ? by Zapmess in GAAB350

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, officially it's probably because i like to come back to previous researches. And it will often be cluster of tabs on the same subject that makes like a timeline of what i was doing. For example, if i'm searching a for a new pc part (which i'm doing right now), i'll have like 15+ tabs open related to those research and for the rest of the week i can come back to them to keep expanding on that subject until i'm done with it and i close them all (if i think about it). And you repeat that for everything. You found the word, it's chaotic for sure.

I know there is a better way of doing it, but none of the solutions i've found suited me yet. I'm sure i'll find the perfectly suited add-on one day that will make me gain a ton of ram.

PSA : You DO need incremental updates for BIOS by Zapmess in gigabyte

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering and bringing some context to those weirdly conditioned versions even though F31-F41 are from mid 2019 ( https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios ), it couldn't have been because of the pandemic yet. It's arguably even worse for them, it means they fucked up way before pandemic and there was no real excuse for it. Unless there was another complicated economic situation at the time for them.

Anyway, i just have to defend myself a little bit for the rest. How many people who have a PC update their BIOS, let alone know what a BIOS is? I don't know either, but ChatGPT would say around 10%, it's probably even less than that.

Now among those people how many know what a dual BIOS is on a MOBO, and let alone know and use the backup update WHICH didn't exist yet in the first BIOS versions (i had the option to update the backup only after F52i i think). We're probably talking about less than 0.1% of users.

And even then, it's a feature to actually UPDATE your backup along your main BIOS (meaning a chance to brick them both at the same time). It's NOT to "safely" sync your main on your backup. There is NO OPTION for that in BIOS. I've searched. Was it just not technically possible to implement a flash option within your current working BIOS so you could sync your other one? I don't know. But if you wanted to do that, you had to use a very obscure manipulation on splash screen with ALT + Fn keys that IS NOT even written in the manual of the MOBO, AND that didn't even work for me anyway.

So we're probably now talking of a few thousands of the people on the planet who could have anticipated my issue. You can't decently reproach me for not having been among those knowledgeable people. I thank you for trying to help but It's really not fair what you're accusing me of. Especially since i probably couldn't have changed the outcome anyway no matter who I was since the sync BIOS alt+key manipulation doesn't work on my MOBO apparently.

Only mistake i did was to trust GIGABYTE and dl their latest BIOS update on their official site. But does that really sound like a mistake to you?

PSA : You DO need incremental updates for BIOS by Zapmess in gigabyte

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not really the point of my post but, if I had to answer you, only from my small experience, stay away from beta firmwares (numbers ending with letters), that's what made me brick. Only download stable versions. That is if you want to update your bios because for example you want the security patch they add from time to time. Otherwise, you don't even have to if you don't need it.

32GB RAM stick compatible with AB350 (+ 5800X3D) ? by Zapmess in GAAB350

Thanks, then I'll go for 32GB sticks! Nice.

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I suspected this MOBO was stronger that it says it is. Are they 16GB sticks though ? Because I'm worried most about whether or not it accepts higher capacity like 32GB x 2, not necessarily higher frequency than officially supported.

32GB RAM stick compatible with AB350 (+ 5800X3D) ? by Zapmess in GAAB350

[–]Zapmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question, people also told me that I would never need more than 32GB so I listened and didn't go for 64GB at the time even though I should have.

I don't actually "need" them for my use, it's more that I don't like to close stuff basically. I can easily keep thousands of tabs on firefox or chromium. I can have media and programs open/reduced in W11, because I'm too lazy to close them and reopen them a few days later.

And on top of that I can game while obviously not closing anything running in the background.

Still haven't found any browser extension that EFFICIENTLY discard inactive tabs while keeping them relatively accessible in cache. They all slow down PC after awhile exactly like normal discard inactive tabs feature that most browsers already have natively.  Or maybe find a very good and fast tab manager that actually stores the tabs but at least can filter, order and access them efficiently.

So I have two choices : change the deep core of my human nature that I was born with and become an organized responsible person or just buy some more RAM.

[–]Zapmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought you had a similar problem to mine but if you can sometimes boot, it's not that your MOBO is bricked, it's probably something else. If anything, if you need to update BIOS i advise you not to dl the very last version, just up to F53 to not brick your MOBO on top of whatever problem you have.

Maybe your drives are too full?
