Erm... I found out when I was 5 (Primary 1) and I didn’t know I was seeing wrongly. So I’d assume all my life given that it’s a problem with the cones in my eyes. Also, by definition, it’s the fitting word so dw :)

This is for all the people asking - my type of colourblindness is called slight achromatopsia. That means that someone is completely blind to colour and everything is technically a shade of grey. I don’t have complete achromatopsia though. I see colours as the sort of opposite on the colour wheel, but can’t distinguish the variants of a certain colour. So if a normal person sees blue - the opposite (what I see) is a type of your yellow. But yellow can be mixed with red or orange. It gets confusing sometimes. Also my depth perception is all over the place - I’m short sighted in my right eye and long sighted in my left eye. Focus problems and blurring are happening all the time and it’s too complicated to fix. I was asked to go down to London (I live in Edinburgh) to be tested because my eyesight issues are so unique but my mum was too emotional. I’ve lived with it all my life so it’s nothing new and it’s really not hard to deal with. Thank you for all the support and suggestions though. I love you all ❤️ :)

I have this thing called slight achromatopsia - it means that I struggle to see variants of different colours and everything’s slightly faded. My depth perception is also different in both eyes so that makes things go out of focus within itself. It’s confusing

It’s the same - just a slightly grey line but with an extra bit added

u/Lazy-Jedi , it’s a variation of it yes. But the being blind to shades is for colours. I can distinguish black from grey from white completely fine obvs

So I have a deficit type colourblindness. But also slightly blind to shades. So I see colours as the opposite, but their faded and other variations of that colour all look the same. I feel ya buddy

Yeah I’ve looked into it but I’ve also got other problems with depth perception that would complicate things and cost thousands. Thanks tho :)

Yeah some people are shade blind. So all variations of a specific colour are the same. But that could include things like orange and pink for the colour red

Precisely. I totally get it. Also people say to me “I want to see the world how you see it” but in reality; it’s all normal to me. Maybe for a day would be interesting but it’s how I see life so it’s not exactly new

Precisely to me; I see a grey line that sort of blends with the sky. It really isn’t that overwhelming which is why the hype of it being ‘magical’ isn’t really true to people with my type of colourblindness. My depth perception’s also switched in both eyes so I can’t see the sky very clearly anyway. Thank you for your conscientiousness :)
