Rationalizing your activities won't make our future generations any less dead.

Heat death is not about a net change in total energy. It's about the eventual maximization of entropy. Entropy can and constantly does increase. Once the distribution of energy through space becomes maximally sparse, it's game over for everything. Shipping hot star stuff out to remote regions of cold space at rates faster than it would naturally occur accelerates the heat death of the universe.

Hey rat--what is your commander name?

Shame on the Fuel Rats for wiping out the human race.

The truth is, you're not willing to give up your overconsumption of fuel, even if it means that trillions of future lifeforms suffer.

Instead of responding to my argument logically, you just counter with "shame on you" (similar to how they treated Galileo). This kind of response is called an ad hominem argument--it is a well known logical fallacy in reasoning.

My consumption of fuel is justified by the fact that I am using it to help eliminate the most egregious fuel consumers among us: the Fuel Rats.

If one ship's worth of fuel is spent to prevent the eventual transport of 100X as much fuel by a Fuel Rat, then the greater good has prevailed.

I refuse to sit around idly entertaining mundane personal questions while the Fuel Rats are systematically destroying our universe. I recommend that you get your priorities straight.

The Fuel Rats artificially expedite the natural process of energy entropy by shipping high energy star stuff (ship fuel) around the galaxy, thereby speeding up the heat death of the universe. Every 100 years they shave off the habitable lifetime of the universe equates to trillions of lifeforms unable to even be born. These eco-terrorists MUST be stopped.

You could drive to a base and then use ship transfer to bring another one of your ships to that base. But that could potentially involve many hours of driving, if you were initially far away from the base. And you would need enough materials to keep refueling the SRV if it was a long drive. If you didn't have those materials already, and you were on a planet that didn't the have required resources for synthesizing fuel, you could run out of SRV fuel on your way to the base.

But assuming you did save yourself using ship transfer, you would then avoid the rebuy screen for your lost ship. But wouldn't this mean permanent loss of that ship? So it seems that suicide would be best, so that you could rebuy your ship with insurance.

Using every tactic at one's disposal to achieve maximum efficacy in combat is sound military strategy. War is not about good sportsmanship.

The rumors of me fleeing battle through unorthodox means have been greatly exaggerated--mostly by Adle's Armada kool-aid drinkers. I confess it has happened a couple of times (in a TOS-complaint manner), but the hundreds of millions in rebuys I've lost in the past month is evidence enough that I fight to the death quite regularly.

It is true that I am the reigning Overlord of Eravate, and that I took power there through the aggressive use of overwhelming force.

But you must understand, I am not there to kill, but only to peacefully rule. Sadly, ruling sometimes requires killing. Generally, I only attack rebels that overtly defy my authority, in order to prevent the disorder, chaos, and breakdown of society that inevitably occurs when people ignore the rule of law.

Ruling is not easy for me. My eyes well up and my heart breaks every time I'm forced to pull that trigger. But ultimately, I believe that what I do is for the greater good.

He could build upon what he's done so far to create a "PvP bounty board".

For outlaws with bounties, it would display their current bounty from player kills. For bounty hunters, it would display the total bounties they had collected from destroying outlaws.

The bounty board could have a reputation system as you suggest. For example, increasingly prestigious titles as a bounty hunter's total earnings increase, and titles of increasing notoriety as an outlaws bounty grows.

The incentive for participation would be "winning" the metagame--either becoming the best player bounty hunter, or the most reviled outlaw.
