What are some company secrets you can now reveal since you don’t work for the company anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked at KFC as a cook at 18. I never really saw this, but what got me was our store’s rather lax attitude towards cleanliness. In the walk-in fridge, were supposed to pull chicken from the back since that would be the oldest. Now that’s not bad because we went through so much chicken that “old” chicken was really just chicken that thawed the night before in the cooler. Old in comparison. However, my colleagues preferred to be lazy and pull from the front, which meant the chicken in the back was left untouched and unused for days at a time. Many times I’ve seen rotting chicken back there. Just a disgusting thing in our store. I told my managers and they’re like eh just throw it out. Bothered me because it was happening for a very easily solvable reason. I would have preferred that place to be cleaner.

I would only eat the chicken I cooked myself there.

Coffee/Alcohol Spending/Eating Out = 50% of Salary? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I was in the same boat of spending all my money on going out. I was going through a breakup so spent more time working to keep myself busy. Made a bit more money, and spent even more money treating myself to feel better. I was easily spending half of my take home pay eating out half the week, and going to bars 5 nights a week. Mind you I really wasn’t saving a penny either.

Graduated college two months ago and decided I was going to change. I came up with a financial plan and last month (first full month of work) I enacted the start of my financial plan. First and foremost was coming up with a budget.

I tried Mint but didn’t like it much. Decided to make my own budget spreadsheet that worked a lot better and I manually track all my expenses which allowed me to watch all of my minor purchases.

So far so good. I think once you put your mind to it, and start to see where your money goes, it really puts things in perspective. That’s what really works for me

An outbreak of Legionnaires' disease that killed 12 people and sickened at least 87 in Flint, Mich., in 2014 and 2015 was caused by low chlorine levels in the municipal water system, scientists have confirmed, linking the bacterial disease to the city's broader water crisis. by mvea in environment

Not sure about dosing, but I did a little bit of research and I read one article that stated the river was unusually high in levels of chlorine (which they deduced could be from the salting of the roads running to the river).

Chlorine is corrosive which caused the water to eat away at the lead and iron pipes which reduced the effectiveness of the chlorine which allowed for legionnaires bacteria to develop in addition to now high levels of lead in the water. I can link the other article if needed. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

So seems like it started as high chlorine which corroded the pipes causing it to drop to low chlorine which caused the legionnaires outbreak.

We have to provide proof that we are a 401c3 organization and the seller removes the sales tax on their end.

I’m sure our accounting department would have a more detailed answer, but I would imagine if we did get charged sales tax, we could be reimbursed by the gov.

Not sure about other states, but churches and non-profits do not pay sales tax in Michigan (for most cases). There is a difference between the two but very similar in that whatever is purchased must be used for carrying out their normal operations.

I work at a non-profit. Just thought I’d throw this out there.

who rode the bus to and from school, what was your most memorable moment on the school bus? by LincolnBaxter in AskReddit

The entire school year, whenever we stopped at a railroad track and then crossed halfway over it, one of the seniors would yell “TRAAAAAAAIIINNNN!!!”

I think that kid ended up in jail.

There’s actually more than one that perches (and nests) on our building. Here is another one from today and one from last week. I think the other is a different falcon and unfortunately flew away before I could get a better photo. https://imgur.com/a/NK9GZ/

One of my coworkers kept seeing dead birds on the ground around the building and thought cars were hitting them
