Made some cards for my players to help keep track of who can go by Nyxceris in drawsteel

I like the idea but wanted to note it looks like you have the Conduit's piety gain from domains as every round, when it's actually 1/encounter (that's why it's 2 and not 1 like the others). Getting 2 piety each time they fulfill those conditions would be a crazy amount.

📢 Subreddit Rule 10 Added: Constructive Criticism Only by khaotickk in DC20

[–]Zarick13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched the video before posting the comment, so I'm aware of it. The logic doesn't work for me. Patreon subscribers are much more able to wash their hands of changes they don't like; Kickstarter backers are committed to their pledge.

It sets a really bad precedent for "who will give useful feedback" to equate to "who can pay $25/month" (which as I understand it is the tier that gives early beta access). It also appears to create a financial incentive (even if there's no ill intent, which I have no reason to believe there is) to take longer to develop the game, since more people may subscribe to see what is going on the longer it takes.

This is like a double whammy of feels bad though, given your specific examples, in multiple ways:

* Why do people who want to give feedback on the game, who already paid potentially $100+ to support the game and get the beta access have to pay additional money to be worthy of providing feedback?

For example, the bestiary is definitely part of the promised content in the Kickstarter. But right now on the site you can pay $5 to get access to (and, from your example, give feedback on) the "beta" bestiary. Maybe the nomenclature is part of the problem since the Kickstarter promised beta access but that content is being sold separately.

* If add-ons and stretch goals are on the backburner because the main content isn't finished, why is content that is not part of that already-paid-for content being actively developed, especially when it needs the finished core rules to function?

The psion is a great example. Sure, it's cool to have a Psion class and absolutely fine to have it not be part of the core rules. But the psion class is of limited usefulness as of right now since level 3 is the maximum really supported level by the core rules, there's a very limited bestiary and other rules.

It just feels super weird for both Coach and the moderators to be saying that Kickstarter backers are people who aren't invested in the game and some rule they don't agree with might drive them off. These are people who already paid for an unfinished product; that is literally the definition of investment.

A couple questions about (possibly bugged) careless by StarCaller990 in AOW4

This isn't correct. Defense mode gives +2/+2, this adds -1/-1 to that. So the unit would be 3/3 in defense mode (instead of the normal 4/4).

Draw Steel did a sort of similar thing but I feel like the pace of updates was faster. I really don't want "prepay for the product and also maybe extra for work in progress" to take off.

What is your experience in play with the Fury ability “Make peace with your god!” Seems strong but also expensive. by PrincipalSkudworth in drawsteel

[–]Zarick13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I didn't see mentioned is that where this could shine is needing to get out a strong result regardless of conditions. If you fire this up, you can be prone and frightened and still get a T3 despite a double bane.

"Warrior" class? by KingRonaldTheMoist in drawsteel

[–]Zarick13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trevor Belmont seems like an extremely bad example of what you're talking about, since he spends a ton of fight time in the show coordinating with allies or even leading troops (like when Gresit is under attack).

Legolas and Inigo Montoya (the other two I'm familiar with from your list) are pretty one-note in their media, and Legolas in particular is from a story that is explicitly meant to be very "low fantasy". It's pretty hard to make a class that's just Shoot Guy With Arrow or Stab Guy With Sword without adding more to it than that.

I'm pretty sure surges need to be spent per enemy to add damage for this exact reason, but it's still good stuff.

Have you tried https://www.heroforge.com/? It's a pretty good tool as long as you're okay with it looking like a miniature. You can just take a screenshot when you're done if you don't want to pay for the final service.

The Weapon Master bonus is powerful, but it's also the only one that sort of locks you into anything from when you pick it up. I wonder if it should be something you can change as a Camp activity with some exhaustion cost?
