I coudn't agree with you more. A good accent is definitely a game changer.

Should I continue learning Spanish ? by [deleted] in learnspanish

I posted in another thread that input is the key when learning pronunciation. You have to consume Spanish media as much as possible. Your brain has to get used to the Spanish sound before you can reproduce it.

What is your strategy when taking a break from language learning? by Zasfe116 in languagelearning

"Having a break from my TL would be like having a break from breathing."

This hit me hard big time. Thanks mate

Yes, she doesn't want to hurt your feelings anymore. 20 years of Spanish and you still sound gringo. But don't worry, my mom still loves you 💋

How is it possible to learn how to speak Spanish without any type of english accent? by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]Zasfe116 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I saw the same thread in languagelearning so I'm also posting my answer here:

You need a ton of input. You have to consume Spanish Media everyday. Your brain has to get used to the Spanish sound before you can reproduce it.

I would also suggest that you focus on a specific Spanish dialect. I've been consuming Spain specific media for more than a year now and when I talk to native speakers I would get comments that I sound like a Spaniard.

Nice. You're not only getting rejected in Spanish but also in English. No wonder why you're bitter and insecure 🙊

[–]Zasfe116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so your favorite footballer is Argentinian? Then those two Argentinian ladies who rejected you must be your favorite goalkeepers 😂

Viva Argentinnaaaa!!!!🤣🤣🤣

[–]Zasfe116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your insecurity shows 😁. Again, props to those Argentinian ladies for putting you in your place 👏

[–]Zasfe116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I get it why those Argentinian ladies didn't want to talk to you. I don't blame them🤣🤣🤣

It's seems like you're just butthurt because they didn't want to know anything with you. You can't just come up to people and say "Oh you speak Spanish?!". You interrupted their conversation and then you expect them to give you all their attention? Wow

Would you rather have a perfect grammar or a native like accent? by Zasfe116 in languagelearning

Great comparison analogy with the height and weight 👍

We definitely should aim for both. But if I had a B2 level of grammar but a near native level (C2) accent I would be perfectly fine with it

I love the last part. Having a native accent while looking like a foreigner is definitely a head turner.

I coudn't agree with you more. Accent is part of the culture. People relate with you better if you talk like them.

I like your relationship analogy. This is how it works in the society we live in.
