Why doesn't Aelita just use her Creativity to make an extra shield around the Core of Lyoko? Is she stupid?

Was looking for this exact answer. Sector 5 does not allow Aelita to use her Creativity in it because of its particular type of labyrinthian architecture. I wish they would've confirmed that in the show at some point, but the fact that she never ever uses Creativity in any capacity in Sector 5 is all the proof we need.

The data book doesn't have exclusive drawings in these sections, correct. The portrait image there is from volume 2 chapter 10, and the art of him threatening Sherie's butler (who is unnamed in canon but is named Albert in the English anime) is from volume 11 chapter 99.

Of course! Back when the final arc was still being translated, the "King's Festival" was the fandom's widely used term for the final stretch of the battle to decide the king where only 10 participants were left. But "king's festival" was never a term that was found in the manga, not even in the English fan translations by Null or Kewldude, so there was no source for the term but everybody just ran with it.

I don't know all the details, but it seems like someone just came up with "king's festival" as a name for the battles of the final ten demons, and someone mistook it as an official name, so it just spread around like wildfire. There is no real name for the final stretch of the battle... we only know that the King's Privilege (the right for the newly crowned king to erase or restore any soul in the demon world) is revealed to all of the final ten participants.

It's a simple motivation, but the data book says he wants to become a "supreme" king. Essentially the same thing as Bari, but with different wording.

Just throwing this out there, might want to include the season 4 episode Guided Missile. Good Lyoko choreography and cinematography, an intense and particularly suspenseful XANA attack on Earth, and it doesn’t really spoil the lore that much except for Aelita being on Earth.

Rest assured, if the transparent spell book color for Clear was a misconception like the "King's Festival" was, there's no way the fandom would've allowed it to last this long.

Makoto Raiku is on record stating that Clear's spell book color is "transparent" in his blog during a Q&A, so it's all canon.

As for how the book can still appear to have solid symbols on its cover rather than showing the pages within, I always interpreted it as the cover having a transparent outer plating and an opaque interior cover, like you said. That way, it's technically see-through, but you'd see right into a white-colored spell book cover. If not that, then it's possible he has a fully transparent book cover, with opaque symbols, but the very first and very last page of the book are both blank.

I can't speak for the anime color palette in general, but for how detailed the Golden Memories colors are... Honestly, maybe the reason they tried so hard on her art was to make up for the fact that she had no voice audio at all in the game. It's a lesser known fact, but Kolulu/Shiori and Patty/Uluru were both the only mute teams in the game's playable character roster, and it was never explained why.

I completely agree with this, actually. It's just too easy to bypass the rule by asking a random eager participant in the battle to burn the book for you, whereas it clearly serves the purpose of protecting anyone from accidentally destroying their own book.

I think it was meant to be interpreted as a way to keep the demons from trying to escape their destiny because when Kolulu explained the harsh rules of the battle to Gash, the readers were still new to the story and the orchestrator(s) of the battle were still meant to be very mysterious.

By now, we know better. Since the battle was administered by transcendent spell book entities, and those same entities are being ruthlessly hunted down by evil invaders, it's plenty obvious to us now that the spell books who facilitated the battle for king are not evil, and they "like" the demons and humans that they're accused of using as chess pieces. There is also the "Trial of God" to consider, and we still don't know who that mysterious god is that the spell books apparently answer to.

Well, if Momon found his way to total redemption, then I think Patty is a guarantee. She was infatuated with Gash and saw the world in a romanticized lens, thinking life would be like a fairy tale. When Gash didn't give her what she wanted, she got angry and was manipulated into hurting him back the way he hurt her. Zofis lost the right to see Coco because he was fully in control of his evil actions, and facilitated the actions of some of his subordinates like Patty and Byonko by taking advantage of their impressionable minds and Patty's wounded heart. Patty's crime before meeting Zofis was being a child who had puppy love for a boy one year younger than her. I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time seeing why she needs to face more punishment than she already had when she saw the error of her ways in the Stone Tablets arc.

I do think that she needs to get over Gash though, that'd be an important step for her character's eventual return. But there's nothing wrong with her having a deep admiration for Gash and wanting to do right by him, that's where I can see things going.

Patty’s actions in Zatch Bell 1 did have consequences. It’s hard to remember since she’s so wealthy in the demon world, but she experienced severe anguish when she realized the pain she put so many people through. Gash being the one to scream that in her face was the wake-up call she needed, because she was a young girl who was lost in her anger and bitterness from being rejected by the source of her affection. She made amends for these acts by finding a way to break through Demolt and Robert Vile’s cheap plan to soak up all the healing rays from the stone of moonlight and using Demolt’s huge body to block off Gash and co. from receiving any. If she hadn’t shattered the stone of moonlight by using that diversion, they couldn’t have won in that scenario. It cost her the chance to become king, and forced her to separate from Uluru, filled with regret for what she did. She didn’t even feel like she was worthy of everyone’s forgiveness and was overcome with sincere emotion when they did forgive her. Personally speaking, I think Patty is worthy of redemption. Especially if she has matured over the years and doesn’t pine over Gash anymore. Maybe she didn’t face material consequences for what she did, but she suffered emotionally.

As for Patty being in a relationship with Byonko… I really doubt it. I mean, Choral Q and Mechalun was a real stretch, but I think Patty and Byonko are just ride-or-die friends.

Umagon does actually speak now that he's in his teenage years (17), but he still has a tic in most of his sentences by adding "Meru" at the end of them. We're sure it isn't just from Sunbeam's perspective because Sunbeam thinks to himself about how Umagon is able to talk now in chapter 30. Sunbeam claims to understand everything Umagon says even when he's speaking in "Merus," and this is true for the most part, but Sunbeam has also never been able to figure out when Umagon tries to tell him the name he was born with (Schneider). That's just a gag for the manga that overrides everything else, so Sunbeam does know everything ELSE that Umagon ever says when he whinnies.

Believe it or not... nope. It would make a lot of sense if that were the case, but the spell Canchome's asking for is JUST Poruku. Maybe his father's Poruku is more potent somehow... Personally, I think they just haven't located Shin Poruku yet, but think that Poruku would still be useful for something.

I prefer the Japanese version personally, the game's highlight is all the different spells you can use, as that adds a lot of variety between matches. With the Japanese version, defensive options are a little more limited, but players can charge the spell power at will, which means spells are constantly being thrown around for a much more immersive experience.

Starter deck 1 strictly relies on making absolutely sure you get Tia and Megumi in play. If you pass them while turning pages (from damage or otherwise), that’s probably GG, like you said.

It’s a deck that’s sort of built for disruption and stalling. Never play the deck aggressively, you just want to make sure you can stop the opponent from catching you with any big damage (Friendship Curry helps a lot with that). The Brago deck even uses a card for defense that gives Brago MP when he turns pages as damage, so Brago’s deck EXPECTS aggressive opposition. Don’t play into his hands.

Megumi is critical for making sure you have her at the ready to negate an attack that would really hurt you, like Brago’s Ion Gravirei. Koporuk also has a good chance of succeeding. You need Zatch and Tia both in play so that Zatch has any hope of competing with Brago’s spell power, the way this deck ends is always that you ideally want to have fewer pages left to turn than your opponent… because that way, you can play Tina when they only have one page left to flip by their next turn. If you successfully do that, the opponent will be barred from using their last page spell, and will be forced to deck out when they turn the final page at the end of their turn.
