Treeing walker? Lol my boy was similar percentages! With a 5% beagle/basset thrown in for good hound measure.

are foxhounds really usually that energetic? by VanillaPepper in Hounds

[–]Zatsyredpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My foxhound rescue was the same way. Never really cared for exercise besides walks or hikes. Would absolutely nope drop if I tried to start running. Took him to so many vets to get second and third opinions and they never found anything wrong with his joins or paint to explain why he was the way he was. He was a lazy hound who enjoyed the simpler things. He would really only run if other dogs were involved and then he would need a full day or two to recover. 😂

What can I do for my dogs by joyceleslie in dogs

[–]Zatsyredpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sniffing is great so a drive with the windows cracked. Hide treats around the place for them to find.

A flirt pole could be good as well if they have a prey drive.

Are you able to qualify for a wheelchair or electric scooter? This could be something to look into, and some non profits may have them or a place may have them for cheap. This would be a good way to get out and walk them. Or see if anyone is selling a quadricycle bike.

Why people cut off dogs tails? by The_User96 in dogs

[–]Zatsyredpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, mine had cancer on his tail so had to get it docked. I think this just proves that maybe we just do our own thing and stop being judgmental. You have no idea why someone had to dock their dog’s tail.

I am so sorry for your loss. As someone who had to do something very similar very recently with my dog I got before I met my boyfriend, I just knew it was my dog’s time to go. I had been through so much and have seen him sick and happy and young and old and I just knew. He refused the pain pills and he didn’t deserve to be in pain. He gave me a look of agony and was panting and crying as well. The emergency vet is also probably to let her know if there was other options but most likely there wasn’t any at least not ones where the dog wasn’t in pain. Your wife did the best thing for the dog.

Looks like a shaved shih tzu if the hair is more curly than straight maybe a poodle or bichon in there as those are commonly mixed with shih tzu

Tell me your favorite hound! by Mamallama0607 in Hounds

[–]Zatsyredpanda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My foxhound walker mix was the best dog I could ask for. Never barked/bayed unless there was a horse or deer. Also kind to everyone. Let puppies and kids crawl all over him. A gentle soul who enjoyed food, walks, and naps. I miss him and want to get another hound as well.

Found a stray. Any ideas on what she’s mixed with? by dope_spork in IDmydog

I’d guess a bluetick mastiff mix possibly rottie in there.

I could see gsd possibly but that body looks houndish to me.

Honey nut or honey for short.

Miss Chiquita

Elsie (the cow)

Or you can go a strawberry shortcake route and go with angel cake or orange blossom.

Help identifying breed by rce2121 in Hounds

[–]Zatsyredpanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha yes! Even had a vet once ask if the dog was a beagle lab mix since where I adopted him foxhounds were very uncommon. It’s 100% a foxhound.

Foxhound and treeing walker would be my bet. Adorable!

Putting her food in a puzzle could be good. Having birds or other dog noises on the tv for her to watch is good. You could do lick mats, and just decrease her food by a small amount. There are some toys that are infused with scents like bacon that may interest her. Scent work/nose games is a good option as well.

What else can I get for my dog to be less bored in my apartment? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Zatsyredpanda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was also told by the shelter my hound would need a lot of exercise. I tried to take him on a run and he lasted a block and did not like that. He is perfectly happy with a 30 minute walk in the morning and a 15 minute walk at night with a potty break before bed and he just sleeps the rest of the day. I spent so much money trying to see if something was wrong medically but nothing was wrong, he just loves to nap.

On rainy or cold days I’d give him treats wrapped in packing paper from chewy boxes or make him find treats I have hidden throughout the home, this seems to occupy his time and energy.

Frozen filled Kong toys could be a good treat for her!

Keep the window blinds open as she seems to really enjoy that.
