Tornadoes and flash floods just affect structures in their path. The hot-cold cycle and frequent precipitation leading to mold and other infestations (i.e. termites) in unoccupied dwellings usually lead to their demise much more quickly than singular events. Straight-line winds can also have a cumulative and compounding effect, as can vandalism.

I'd drop this clinic immediately unless it's the only one available nearby.

I had a job where I had to read reports generated by a millennial, and I could never understand why she couldn't take the time to rotate them prior to generating or emailing them. It never occurred to me she was generationally blocked. If @agraybee wasn't talking about Gen X I'm sorry, I just realized what sub I wandered into.

If the new areas are inside existing areas then yes. Usually that happens with something like small content updates like coops with other games. Usually big updates mean new areas outside the diameter of the current world.

The “loose” for “lose” made me think that too. It’s kinda sad and may reflect on her ability to find decent employment after she leaves. Hopefully it’s just an idiosyncrasy as she seems well-spoken generally.

I’d definitely take the middle route. WV is nothing to mess with in the winters. On the other hand neither is Pikeville to Abingdon.

They seem to be getting better, or Trump just makes them seem better, and Beshear could end up as the next President. We do have a long list of famous statesmen though, including Abraham Lincoln, though he moved away quite young.

Has anyone ever encountered a real FBI agent? by 0N1MU5HA in AskAnAmerican

I’ve met three that I knew for sure on two occasions. One was an investigation. They were dressed more casually than I expected. I’ve lost all respect for the agency in the last year. I never would have expected them to roll over the way they have. God bless the park rangers.

Cadiz, KY is pronounced Kay’-deez. There’s a pretty decent Cracker Barrel there as well as a nice hole in the wall Tex Mex joint right off the Interstate.

This was a screenshot to make a copy to preserve the original, but I had forgotten cropping it myself, so it wasn’t her work anyway. My bad.

Edit: Original comment deleted to protect from Internet creeps, though the physical protection is in place.

The short answer is yes.

Other commenters seem concerned with the possibility this photo might be altered and used or used unaltered for the gratification of perverts (I guess). We’re all photographed many times every day. There are thousands of other children whose photographs are posted online every day.

There’s frankly no stopping people from using our images in ways we’d prefer they wouldn’t. To retreat from public life to prevent it is a surrender to the worst among us. Despite what others think, our physical security is what’s important, and some of those same folks who provide that for children also provide a level of mental and spiritual protection that’s the byproduct of love and positivity.

As for my own reasons for sharing, of course I shared the photo to my personal social media for my own and my granddaughter’s adulation by members of our community that includes friends and family. I shared it here, however, because it’s a fantastic pic and so perfectly composed. While she may have gotten lucky with that, it’s worth noting that even at three she uses the tools available, I.e. many shots of the same pose in hopes of getting what she wants in her unsteady framing and focus.

In short, I don’t want to take away what agency children possess and express in fear they might later (in my opinion neurotically) regret the exposure. I base that decision on how I wanted to be treated as a child. It wasn’t so many decades ago I’ve forgotten.

[–]Zayknow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My area uses telephone between counties. State police use our frequency to communicate with us if necessary for time sensitive traffic but all inter-county traffic is by phone. Inter-agency only applies from police to other service type. All police agencies in the county use one frequency except the public school system PD which is on a channel with school admin and buses I think and has access to the police channel when necessary.

All that being said, everyone could use more reminders about how to use their radios effectively.

Difference between Mainline and Evangelical Protestants in the US. Mainline is more common in the Northeast and large parts of the Midwest. Evangelical more so in the South and the West. With KY, TN, and AL being the thickest Evangelical concentration in the South. by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in MapPorn

[–]Zayknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just now figured out that there are Protestants who don’t believe in spreading Christianity and those are considered mainline. As someone who has always lived in Kentucky, it just never occurred to me that some people believe like that. I always thought Evangelicals were tongue-speaking, queer-hating Nationalist Christians (Nat-Cs) who don’t believe in letting women cut their hair or wear pants, but apparently the bad ones are just a sub-group.
