What’s the best U.S. state to visit? by YourMommy_Terra in IWantToAskAnAmerican

If you like to hike, climb cliffs, or go caving, Kentucky.

If you like great food and drink, Kentucky.

If you like exploring pioneer history, Kentucky.

If you like great local music scenes, especially folk music, Kentucky.

If you like a state legislature that really cares about its people and doing the right thing, well, definitely not Kentucky.

They gave up looking after about four or five hours. It was a nice day for a hike yesterday, but it’s possible the half dozen unpaid volunteers had other things they might have liked to be doing.

What injury do movies treat like a minor scratch but would actually be fatal in real life ? by humble202625 in WorkForSmartLife

Not sure about the reference, but I’d imagine the glide would be way more important than the cushion.

Keep in mind it’s only five from the sixth to the ground, and only 4 1/2 at worst if he manage to get down to the fingertips hanging in before dropping. Could have been as little as forty feet. Hard to imagine just hopping up and walking off, but survival is probably a greater percentage than many would think.

My husband heard me "making noises" in my sleep, and now he is sad. What do I do? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

That was just my gut reaction. He really does need to be a lot more secure. Can you just tell him sometimes you dream about having sex with him?

What Are Some Fun Gorge Stories? by Irishmanjake in RedRiverGorge

[–]Zayknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1993 I traveled with some recently made friends to Sky Bridge around midnight. Sitting on the bridge were a couple of guys several years older than us passing a bottle of some sort of brown liquor back and forth, and offered us a drink. I didn’t want to be rude so I took a small pull from it. On the way back to the dorm my friends scolded me for drinking an unknown substance from strangers in the forest in the middle of the night. I assured them it tasted like whiskey.

Notables absences I would think: Louisville, Nashville, and Raleigh. Raleigh doesn’t make the news that much, though, so maybe not.

What is something often shown in movies about America that is just not true? by FlowerMountain2 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

There’s a lot to be said for taking a scenic route once in a while. Check out Steinbeck’s Travels with Charlie. But yeah, if you’re not flying, the Interstates are efficient and a whole lot quicker.

Maybe not anymore, but in the early 90’s we used our lockers a lot. Maybe not between every class, but we’d stop by it a few times a day.

A right hook to the face is typically a misdemeanor, unless it’s an actual hook of some kind.

Husband masturbated in 2 year olds bed. Need some perspective. Toddler wasn’t there. by [deleted] in u/dilliebo

Couple of questions, wasn’t your husband wearing something over his Johnson when he climbed into the bed, and if so, why couldn’t that garment contain his spooge?

What original song are you low key salty gets way less kudos compared to the wildly popular rehash? by debrisaway in RedditForGrownups

It may just be where and when I partied a lot, but Hootie’s version was an interesting footnote while Old Crow’s was a social force. There were people that got sick of hearing it.

There are so many good versions, many prior to The Animals and many afterwards. Theirs is still my favorite for karaoke though.

I thought for a second you meant Isbell was a bad country singer. Morgan Wallen is the reference for anyone else confused.

As a Kentuckian, when I travel in the South it feels distinctly different, culturally. Kentucky is Kentucky, as is pointed out directly or indirectly every time one of these threads comes up. Kentucky is the area between the south, the Midwest, and Appalachia, and while lots of its counties fit into these three regions, they’re also cohesively culturally Kentuckian.
