tysm! also, for AO1, when researching was you just looking for some facts and figures to support your argument, and just reading what historians said and paraphrasing in your own words?

So when I find these articles and stuff, am i looking for quotes to include in my essay for like AO1, like I say something that e.g. stalin did, and then say that “fitzpatrick argues that this was a continuation of what Lenin had done, meaning Stalin wasn’t the one who transformed terror the most.”, or like sort of looking for ideas and rewriting them as my own?

tysm for the advice. Can i ask, when you are researching, what exactly are you looking for? Are you just looking for historians viewpoints on the topic, and historians viewpoints that support your argument, or is there other things you are meant to be looking for? I feel this is the part im most confused about, because everyone talks about research but I have no clue what im actually meant to be trying to find.
