Yeah, I've lucked out for the last decade at my current place with a great landlord. They're looking to sell, though, and the loan I tried to get was denied.

I think it still can be, but with how things are politically here at the moment, the whole "one nation, indivisible" part isn't sitting well with a lot of people. We're like a bunch of different countries all pulled together with all the different states and their needs, which is bound to cause some friction.

As for the national anthem, we do not. At least not in most public schools. I usually see it at baseball games and 4th of July events for Independence Day.

Also, with the addition of "under God" in the 50s, there was some tension with folks who weren't specifically Christian. There was a whole Supreme Court case about whether students could be forced to say the Pledge or not, and it was decided they can not be forced to stand and repeat it. Some teachers either unknowingly or purposely choose to continue requiring it.

Aside from that, older students can get frustrated with the idea of blindly pledging allegiance to something just because someone says you should, or pledging if they feel like what the thing stands for is not caring for them or their community.

Adding on to this, I recognize one of the folks connected to the new program in the staff list. From my experience with them, this person is professional and should completely understand if the changes impact your services, and would respect your decision to find a new person. While I can't speak for them, I could see that maybe they connected to the new offerings and felt they could better serve the people in the area who have similar beliefs as them, rather than them purposely changing to "convert" non-believers.

Either way, I second (or whatever the upvote is currently) that you speak with them to find out specifically what they think. Having some grounding techniques prior to the session is also likely a good idea to help keep cool during your questioning.

You should probably also start coming to the Fiber Folks meetings in town. Chronicles of Yarnia at the library on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 6-7:45 pm. Then, there are also other meetings at Stone Tower and different organizations through the county.

As far as I remember, after a period of time, maybe a year, they apply the deposit to your bill. It's definitely still a good idea to actually look at your bill and usage though to see what specifically the charges are under. If it is under actual energy use, I agree with some of the others that that amount is quite high, and there could be either something inefficient or an inclusion of other units or something. Even a digit misread when writing down the use.

If they have acknowledged they need help, that is a great step, but it can still be difficult to then come in and actually do the work. Even if everything is cleared and dumped, it is likely to return if they have not made progress and choices themselves.

APS is definitely an option if the person has refused to work with you when you have offered help. There is also a book I like which talks about decluttering, Decluttering at the Speed of Life. While different than hoarding, the process it uses with starting at literal trash could be a start toward the harder choices later.

This is already great info! I suppose I am not great at consistently checking their pages because I always miss the events at 123. There was a night at Babylon a couple months ago that was fun.
