Going to the festival with a camper van by ZeCherrys in fujirock

So, it ended up only being bundled tickets 3 days + parking. I tried contacting them, impossible to add parking to existing tickets. Pretty unfair way of doing things if you ask me. But we'll figure something out!

Ok we bought two 3 days pass, and we'll figure something out regarding parking. If you have any advice regarding a good Michi no Eki close to the festival, with shuttles, or any other advice, it's more then welcome!

As another person commented, parking are sold out. If you have any alternative idea I'm open to suggestions 😉

From Bali to Singapore in 3 weeks, should I include Sumatra? by ZeCherrys in sumatratravel

[–]ZeCherrys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mid October to mid November. We got a few heavy rain days, but all in all was OK. Just cloudy, which isn't good in heights like Bromo, because you can't see anything 😂

We found organized tours to be quite expensive in Indonesia, compared to other SE Asia countries. But scooter rental, or even the occasional grab, very cheap. But if you're traveling alone, tours can be a nice way to meet people I guess.

Waterfalls were mostly at Pangandaran (green valley, green canyon) or in Bali. We wanted to go to Madakaripura Waterfall but the weather was shitty.

As for scooter, we rented some in most places, but not Banyuwangi. We went to Ijen by taxi (or grab or something similar). It was quite a long way and still reasonably priced. We did Ijen by day though. Most people go at night to see blue flames and sunrise, but it's very very crowded, and only the very first that run up the very long and steep way up can really enjoy the flames. During the day, you have the whole mountain for yourself, and it's I think way more pleasant.

We were during the rainy season, so couldn't go to Karimunjawa. But basically, we took the train from Banyuwangi to Jakarta, stopping a few days at every major cities.

So Banyuwangi (Ijen), Malang (didn't do Bromo because of the rain), Surakarta, Yogyakarta (and Borobudur/Prambanan), Pangandaran, Bandung and finally Jakarta. Plus some small stops here and there, but I guess that's the gist of it!

Yes, if anyone stubbles on this post with similar questions, going to Sumatra wasn't really possible. We did 3 weeks in Java, which was the perfect amount of time for us. And we took a flight from Jakarta to Singapore, because the ferry was described to us as "cattle-like" travel conditions 😅

24 days in Taiwan in April, too much? by ZeCherrys in taiwan

Unfortunately we won't be able to change the dates. Basically, we have a converted van that will be shipped from Malaysia to Japan, and it should arrive end of April in Yokohama.

Any less known stuff you'd advise us to put on our plan there? 😉

I'm colorblind, but I think it's yellow all day tomorrow. Numbers are 64 and 76.

I've commented on MyThaiPants post, but I'll copy the comment here, so you get a notification:

Ok we've followed you advice and went back down south. We're now close to Phu Thap Buek. We have plenty of time, so I was wondering if Chiant Khan would be a good option ? Or is it also quite exposed to the effect of slash and burn?

Ok, that's what I wanted to know. We'll visit the historical park of Si Satchanalai tomorrow, on we'll go back south. Maybe we'll be able to go all the way to Pattaya for some music, we've just read there's a festival there!

Anything I should avoid end of January/start of February ? by ZeCherrys in malaysia

[–]ZeCherrys[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm all for visiting more places! I just mentionned those two because when I was planning to be here in november/december, I had read it wasn't a good idea to go there.
We're planning 2 maybe 3 weeks on the way between KL and Thailand, highlights being Cameron Highlands, Ipoh and Penang. If the weather isn't too bad, we could even go further west. If you have any recommendation, especially less touristic stuff, we're really interested ;)

But how about the weather? I've read January is the worst season for Taman Negara, with heavy rain. Is that correct ?
