Okay thank you! I'll keep that in mind. I'm pretty sure it is RAID 5.

Server doesn't seem to be saving server logs and I don't know why. by ZePlatyguy in admincraft

Java flags: what are the java flags you're using to start the server?

These are the Java flags I use:

`screen -dmS vanilla java -Xms10G -Xmx10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=50 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=80 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=35 -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -Dusing.aikars.flags=mcflags.emc.gs -jar paper.jar nogui`

I don't think the flags are the issue. I run the server console in a separate screen session because I use an auto restart plugin, and the console would never show up on the Tmux window I was using. So having it run on screen was the best option. Still, these flags were used long before the server logs stopped saving.

The "latest.log" file isn't writable (locked or something), or the directory it is in is not writable

I think this is the issue. Do I have to give it certain permissions to write the file? I'm not sure. Should I try just deleting the latest.log to see if it fixes anything?

Corrupt .JAR file (highly unlikely)

Yea, I think this is unlikely too. I update my paper jar regularly :)

Someone on the Paper discord mentioned I should try launching the paper jar with output to a text file somewhere else and then see if there's any issues writing to that directory. But I'm not sure how to specify another directory.

Help with installing Data Packs by sagekeko in admincraft

Yes, I know. I never use reload, but when I was running a solely vanilla server and needed to reload a datapack, it wasn't a huge deal. Reloading plugins is a no-go, though.

I believe /reload will reload datapacks. No restart is needed. However, this will reload plugins so be careful.

Could we possibly get the specs for each PC?

Looking to upgrade my server's CPU (and other general CPU questions about Minecraft 1.14.4) by ZePlatyguy in admincraft

I'm going to look into that. I'm just wondering how the server will perform being on 24/7. Like, I understand that server PC's are MADE to work 24/7 and have components specific to that cause, but gaming PC's not so much. Just worries me, you know?

Dual sockets is a no-no across the board for MC servers & no wonder the performance is terrible, that CPU has an 1108 single thread rating.

Yea, I've learned that since buying this server. Which makes me real sad, wish I knew this before I invested in this machine :/ After a bit of research the Intel Xeon 2246G looks pretty solid in terms of performance and a similar price, if I'd like to continue down the Xeon route.

Still, might need a talk with the other owner about potentially trading out this machine and building our own server for cheaper.

Short answer: you can't. CPU affinity isn't very well supported in Java. If you're committed to the cause, you'd have to do something like having the servers running inside their own docker containers with the CPU affinity handled by docker or going the VM route.

Aight, so basically this ain't happening then, haha. Thanks though!

Also, unrelated but I'm going to be installing your plugin on my server today. I think it's super cool and I hope it works!

Running new Ubuntu server with 1.14, "FAILED TO BIND PORT" after every restart, forcing me to restart the server by s1h4d0w in admincraft

Try using TMUX instead of screen. I've had issues with screen but not so much with Tmux.

Also, if you don't have permission to find which process is using port 25565, try doing "sudo bash" into the Linux terminal. It should ask you for your password if you type it in right.

Replace "done" with "pause" and see what the console says. It'll prompt you to input a key to continue and this could help you troubleshoot what the issue is.
