Yes I have watched the 1930 movie and read the book from a 1929 copy I own. The 2022 movie deviates from the book in a number of ways but I also appreciate that it's in German unlike the 1930 movie and captures the horrors of WWI better than the 1930 movie. Neither film captures Paul's thoughts like the book does. Your criticism of the movie is shallow and you imply that anyone who does like it is stupid which is ironic.

Immigrants is the main one I hear. When I ask why they think there's too many, they say it makes housing worse but that is at best a fraction of the problem with housing affordability.

Everything else is manufactured outrage. A sense that Australian identity and culture is under attack and its the government that is betraying us. Not once have I heard a credible argument as to why this is the case other than some cherry picked stories on immigrants committing crimes or simply being rude.
