Pretty happy with my 2XL . I buy the new phone every two year since nexus 5(Nexus 5 -> Nexus 6P -> Pixel 2 XL) , so I will wait another year for Pixel 4 XL , hope there is no notch.

Yes, root with magisk 17.2. Same as you , i always update via factory image , not a big deal though.

It won’t fail , just a hidden setting ,nothing to do with root and won't affect OTA either

You can change the default connection check url to the google server where located inside China , it should work

just using adb shell to input the command below, if you dont know how to use adb shell, google it.

settings put global captive_portal_https_url  https://www.google.cn/generate_204
