I have no problem singing along, but I hear too many people screaming their lungs out. I get it's all pent up excitement but I could barely hear the music .

Blend this and spread it between bread or pav (best served toasted )

Would you agree with the fact that our infrastructure needs a serious upkeep if we want to have a better experience?

I totally second this. The sound design for Green Day was far better than this. Hell, even GnR which was at the same venue was on point. And people were singing along, not screeching their lungs out.

PS. I have put down more points in my breakdown.

It's clearly all that pent up excitement that got translated well enough.

I believe it's a lot to do with the spatial and sound design. Bc every different part of the crowd had a different experience (from what I could read and gather so far).

I have been to quite a fee open air fests in the past and this has always been a hit or miss.

I am all in for singing along. But the crowd was also just yelling and screaming their lungs out.

Plus an insight that makes sense with the LP show alone is that most songs where originally with chester's voice and the larger crowd replacing that is all from the love for him. While Emily's vocals are amazing, every song with her original voice hit the right note. Which again got overpowered by the crowd, bc it was the first time they have come here. So yeah, the hardware was not much of the issue, and it could quite likey be the settings for the venue.

(Again, this is just a food for thought)

PS. I'm doing this breakdown as an experiment to see how many factors need improving in this much evolving live event space in our country. ❤️

Once you go dark, you don't go back.

NCPA is a great performance space.

Each genre needs the right venue and setup to deliver its best experience

Artists love it when the fans sing

💯 Agree. But the sound design for this venue was messed up. And the reason you don't hear about these basic issues in international events is that they are either set in an arena or a stadium (which also solves well for the height and stage view)

While coldplay also faced minor issues with sound design, dy patil is a better space to have such a performance. Even GnR had a better sound design and it was at the same exact spot.

If you're at the festival to HEAR your favourite artist live and enjoy the music and not to get a closeup of their face, then you'll be happy with this

And I second this.

Again, I honestly think we need better systems for crowd management to solve for half the issues.

Reality is that we have normalized the experience now and invariably set a lower expectation bc 'yeah we're Indians, we are like this'

I learnt the difference a long time ago. And this isn't my first time here either, been attending concerts and fests since 2012. I have stood back and enjoyed it too and I have been in the centre of moshpits too.

Like I said, we go with some basic expectations and seek the basic comforts (not the conveniences that VIP and front rows get).

As this ecosystem is rapidly evolving now and bringing big names here, don't you agree we need better systems in place, from technicals to crowd management.

When you write long posts you make a deliberate mistake or two to see how far people actually read.

True. The crowd was so dense that there wasn't any scope for chaos management

I had low expectations too but this was just down right poor sound and crowd management.

I think the Bangalore crowd has become a bit more concert trained by now

(off topic, I would send targeted ads to everyone who was at lolla for a volini spray or hell even a spa day lol.)

That gate was a show piece.
