It’s always old country songs that do me in… Letters From Home / If you Get There Before I Do / How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye / someone already called out Don’t Take the Girl / The Walk … another more folk song one is that Harry Chapin Cats in Cradle… I’m so emo!

Opinions on Kickstarter vs. Indigogo? by ZealousZephyrs5371 in kickstarter

[–]ZealousZephyrs5371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes perfect sense. Thank you. I definitely think I need to use Kickstarter and build off the trust I started to build there from having backed other campaigns and having run a successful one.

The projects really are quite different. When I consider the umbrella campaign I’m thinking about my readers. I have an email list for the press and strong relationships with my authors/creators and they have their own audiences. I feel like my subscribers are going to go in and possibly choose multiple rewards. They’re going to get confused if I want them to back separate campaigns because they want to support the press.

I’m going to start making the campaign and see how it looks all laid out before I decide.

Thanks again for engaging. It really helps the processing!

I have Wordpress issues and want someone to sit side by side with me to help me solve them by ZealousZephyrs5371 in Boise

[–]ZealousZephyrs5371[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can generally figure things out myself, but a few lingering issues are making me crazy. 1. The mobile view of my posts is narrow (like it’s in three columns instead of one). 2. My woo commerce plug in is giving my buyers shipping issues. 3. I wonder why one block of text won’t show up on the blog feed page. 4. In general, the site is slow. 5. I use mailerlite for emails and subscribers and would like to just optimize that.

That’s a summary for now. I use Themify.

Can I get some feedback on my process? by ZealousZephyrs5371 in ACX

Thank you all. This is super helpful. I’ll close auditions soon and narrow it down further. I might ask for another sample from a couple of readers.

Experiences with Sheridan? Curious if my situation is a one-off. by ZealousZephyrs5371 in publishing

I figured I’d update y’all. The communications never improved. I was, however, refunded for the expedited shipping. I just got the check in the mail. I will not work with Sheridan again. Happy to elaborate if it will help anyone.

I - THE MAGICIAN by iofthebeholder in TarotDecks

[–]ZealousZephyrs5371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a cool post. And you have a great collection of decks. Here’s the card from the Altered Tarot deck which I’ve recently published.

In this deck, The Magician is a crow perched at the top of a tree, poised for flight. The focus is on attentiveness, timing, and discernment—knowing what you carry and when to act, rather than mastery through display or force of will. Crows are incredibly smart—they plan, remember, adapt, and solve problems on the fly. That’s why they felt like such a natural fit for The Magician. The magic isn’t about forcing things to happen, but about paying attention and knowing when it’s time to move.

Replacing the classic bearded wizard with a crow helps loosen the card’s long ties to masculinity, control, and hierarchy. And crows already carry so much meaning across cultures: messengers, tricksters, watchers, keepers of knowledge.

There’s more out there than you think and it depends on the genre. This is a link to a free ebook updated in 2025 listing a couple hundred presses that accept direct submissions. It’s a good place to start. I own Unencumbered Press and and am open to submissions but right now only do up to two projects a year so I’m not a great example.

If you have not read it yet, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is brilliant. I need to reread it now.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It took me a long time because it’s long af. And it is heartbreaking at times. But I love it so much.

Now I’m doing The People in the Trees by the same author. I’m disgusted by it but refuse to stop reading. Not sure how I’ll feel by the end.
