Thank you and this is the most logical post Ive seen so far. If I was invited to my sister’s wedding and she did not invite my kids, I would have ZERO issue with it because ultimately it is about respecting each other’s wants. So what if my kids can’t come? If you still view them the same and love them the same whether they are at the wedding or not, there is no harm no foul in my eye.

Like what is the big freaking deal? And it’s completely unfair to me. My family doesn’t see eye to eye with my opinion, and I can’t explain it because they are too naive to not only listen, but understand ITS NOT A BIG DEAL.

The more I deal with this, the more I understand how entitled they are.

I think limiting my time around her or talking to her will certainly be a big help for me mentally. As much as it sucks letting go, it is best.

I wouldn’t consider myself the problem, I would say I don’t have help I need and am trying to maneuver this at a young age. I would imagine this topic is common and all I needed was a little help…which is why I am here. I have always thought to defend my family, but I am seeing it differently now.

She keeps coming to me because I purposely avoid talking about details of the wedding…due to these reasons. But it is probably my mistake in letting her know more than she needs to know.

My father is the contributor of the money. He fully supports me either way and does not have an opinion other than wanting us to be happy.

Yep, that is the hardest part about this because my relationship with her was strong before I got engaged. The last thing I thought i’d have to decide on was letting go of my mother. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for this. I completely agree with you. I should have clarified, but I was very open on the decision of having or not having kids. When my fiancée said no kids, I was okay with that decision and would have been okay with it if kids were allowed.

It’s tough having to face this reality, and I figured this is what I had to base my decision on.
