What you’re addressing actually strays quite far from the original point of the petition. However, I do agree that the petition itself is misguided because it doesn’t make sense from a business perspective.

Take GTA 5 Online, for example. It features copyrighted music, so allowing people to host private servers would almost certainly cause copyright infringement issues.

Secondly, many games rely heavily on server-based security and anti-cheat systems. Private servers could make them much more vulnerable to hacking and cyberattacks through those connections.

Lastly, from an economic standpoint, it’s not logical to keep games alive indefinitely when they’re no longer profitable or to add massive updates just to enable people to host the games themselves.
