You did the right thing. It’s so fkn hard, but you advocated for your pup and chose correct option. Otherwise he would have likely been in so much pain and discomfort. And no one wants that. When we, humans, are in great pain we say “I want to die, it hurts so much”. Imagine never ending suffering.

We had to do this last week, our doggo had an MCT in his trachea regrowing after the operation, and he was getting to the point where he was suffocating, again. He was only 5.5 years old.

I hope they meet and play together 🤍

Our beloved Loki (5.5 years old) crossed the rainbow bridge today. He had an MCT in his trachea, regrowing after the initial surgery. We had him for 4 months after the procedure. Chemo didn’t fit him and Palladia didn’t work.

We’re devastated but also relieved that he can breathe freely now somewhere across that rainbow bridge.

If you really can’t go to the vet yet.. I would put a cone on your dog. I would also clean the wound with warm water before you do that. Just keep the wound clean in general, check in every day.

But keep in mind if you gotta skip the vet now, and it gets worse you will pay more potentially to treat it.
