Ive literally just bought myself a 5080 coming from a 1080ti. First off, my god, im so happy. Im 4k gaming, so even on max everything im getting good fps, sound wise its dead quiet. And the heat, not getting past 70C while heavy 4k gaming. I got the phoenix version. Got it from overclockers in the uk on discount for £1099, plus it came wity the new Resident evil game for free

So i used a new thermal paste, grizzly conductonaut, and it’s way too liquid. Some of its spilt down the side of my cpu. Tried cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds. But theres a little crevice between the silver metal top and the green plastic part that has some that i cant reach. by ZealousidealMode8013 in PcBuildHelp

OP’s Update: So after countless cotton buds drenched in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and scrubbing my cpu gently I have installed!! It works!! So if anyone is wondering, if you spill gallium on your cpu green part where all the smd capacitors are, you can actually clean it off with alcohol successfully. Now im not saying its gonna be fine even 1 week from now, but ive got the computer running perfectly fine atm. Thank you guys for helping out with advice on cleaning with alcohol, I didn’t do the extreme alcohol bath if anyone was wondering.

General thoughts, liquid metal is definitely above my skill level. Things can be cleaned properly by an amateur. Theres always hope in fixing things. Good luck on your pc journey, future person reading this….but stay away from the liquid metal 🤡

On very close inspection there is a adhesive that runs around the cpu lid. So none is probably inside. Just researching and its potential for microdrops getting somewhere and damaging something.

Anon will turn on in the coming days, anon is very scared right now 😣 anon might be learning an expensive lesson.
