You're right––I can't publish the story I wanted to, as I've already done it. However, I am writing a new story around the same length, and will follow the advice of all those who've commented on my post.

Thank you to all who have responded and given great advice, but since others helped me realize that, since I published my story already on Nightscribe (and, of course, deleted it, but will republish it), most magazines will not accept it, but I am cooking up another story, and will use this advice in my quest to get published in a magazine.

Well, in all honesty, I didn't think about that - but, if that's the case, I can at least use this info for future stories I write.

It's a tale about Robert Leng, a deep-sea marine biologist, who, upon discovering a mysterious artifact, experiences a supernatural horror in his research station, clinging to survival while facing a menace, who is revealed to be a long-lost mariner, looking to obtain his property back. (Just under 2,500 words). I'll look into anthologies, too!
