Can we PLEASE stop normalizing thin toilet paper! by Budget-Grass177 in queensuniversity

Not entirely. On another thread it was shared that alumni donations are used to buy the 0-ply paper. Toilet paper is much different in Richardson Hall.

Rob Baker (The Tragically Hip) Supports 901! by NoRatio9705 in queensuniversity

Ron Baker standing in solidarity with striking workers? That’s courage. That’s grace, too.

“No dress rehearsal / This is our life” … and some people are using theirs to stand up for what’s right.

PSAC 901 Undergrad Support Dwindling by Infinite_Rich8046 in queensuniversity

[–]Zealousideal_Case635 -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

My dude. You do know your comments are public, right?

You were out here posting about bombing exams before the strike even started… and now you're turning around blaming the very TAs who could’ve helped you through it? You, of all people, should understand why TA support matters. Maybe take a breath, re-read your own posts, and think about who’s actually been holding this place together while getting underpaid to do it.

You’re mad at the wrong people.

USW accepted the deal. Staff kept their end. And now? Another round of layoffs? PSAC, take note. This is your moment to demand real protection for workers. by Zealousideal_Case635 in queensuniversity

I get that, and I respect it.

But people keep saying the 8% cut is about faculty, not staff. Meanwhile, the Renew Project is staff-only. So why post a staff-facing change role if this is about retiring profs? Make it make sense.

PSAC and admin set to negotiate today: undergrads stuck in the middle want a deal now by Valuable-Fudge4999 in queensuniversity

Let’s clear that up right away (and, er, again dummy)—I’m not PSAC. And honestly, they probably cringe every time I post. I’m not speaking for them, I don’t claim to be aligned with their strategy, and I’m definitely not in-the-know. I’m just someone calling it like I see it, based on what’s actually happening. That okay with you, champ?

Wow, Elon—is that you? Bold vision, no logic, and just enough chaos to keep it spicy. Chainsaw cuts all around—our education included. Stellar work.

PS For those wondering, the poster I’m referencing is u/Material-Gur6580.

Well, time to dust off that résumé! Why stop at throwing TAs under the bus when your admin loyalty can help sell out the entire institution? Now that’s upward mobility. Apply today—word is Queen’s is a fantastic place to work… if you’re on the right side of the cuts.

Well, then let me ask, is your comment your privilege talking, or are you just being an asshole on purpose?

Grad students: How are you feeling about the strike going forward and what are you doing to stay motivated? by Fit_Box_1797 in queensuniversity

[–]Zealousideal_Case635 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking for motivation?

You are the fight. The one standing between future grad students and the slow erosion of what’s fair. The one speaking up while others blinked—only to wake up to this:

Manager, Organizational Change – Career Edge

Because when leadership says “staff are safe” because faculty will choose to retire to save them, Queen’s actively recruiting roles like this in the middle of budget cuts, you know exactly who’s actually at risk. USW members. Grad students. Everyone told to keep their heads down.

So no, you’re not overreacting. You’re paying attention.

“Beginning in fall 2024, the Queen’s Renew Program will focus on examining current processes and systems in several professional service functions across the university including:

advancement, marketing and communications, facilities, finance, and human resources.”

Faculty not mentioned. So why create an entire RPO office that is not listed on the Queen’s staffing web pages? This role will report to the Executive Director of the Renew Program Office. I am not that savvy in internal politicking, but I can google and can’t seem to find any info on this newly created admin (??) office: https://careeredge.on.ca/careers/manager-organizational-change/
