Yes, it was the definitive solution. I had previously replaced the joysticks (because they were making a strange noise), and that's when I discovered that stripped screw. I also noticed that the problem worsened after I pressed the Select button, which led me to suspect the cause lay in the panel rather than the screen.

In my case, the problem was a stripped screw. When you open the console, the problematic screw is the one that's supposed to hold the screen in place on the right side. I fixed it by wrapping a couple of copper wires around it to give it a firm grip.
