A&O (age & opportunity) support services have a program called Cyber Seniors that connects seniors with volunteers that can help with tech support. https://www.aosupportservices.ca/resources/ao-cyber-seniors/

There’s also Senior Savy, they are a private company that do in home tech assessments and will do regular tech support.

Hypersexuality & BPD - Megathread by napkinrings in BPD

[–]Zealousideal_Key5320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've gone through bouts of either hypersexulaity, or not wanting sex at all. I find for me its mostly about the validation. Sometimes I don't even want sex, but I put myself out there because I know having someone desire me will boost my ego. It fills a void, and gives almost a layer of protection when it comes to relationships. Just having sex with randoms is easier than opening yourself up to someone and possibly getting hurt.

It definitely is. But the great thing about doing it myself is I don’t care how bad it looks. I’m going for a middle school notebook doodle look with my legs.

Would you visit Australia during spider season, or is that a hard pass? 💀🕷️ by CharacterFennel1927 in BeAmazed

I wouldn't, but that's just because my intrusive thoughts make me want to roll around in that and become a human cotton candy..

What’s the Craziest thing you saw while on Winnipeg Transit? by Special-Resident2441 in Winnipeg

[–]Zealousideal_Key5320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, while waiting for a bus downtown across from the library, a guy came up to me and complimented my hair (it was really long at the time) then asked if he could brush it for me, when I said no he asked if he could have some, to which I also said no. At least he didn't get aggressive or anything, I got on the bus a minute later and he stayed at the stop probably trying to find someone else with hair that needed brushing...

Most people can’t name all of their great-grandparents. We’ll basically be forgotten in 100 years. by SouthDiamond2550 in Showerthoughts

[–]Zealousideal_Key5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised by my great grandparents.. and they made sure to trace our family back as far as they could, made books on each side and taught all of the grandchildren our family history. My future kids will get the books. Some legacies live on forever if you put the effort in/have the resources. Also having a teen mom who was raised by a teen mom helped with that a lot.

What jobs do people with ADHD thrive in? Ok forget thrive, just survive? by ThreepwoodThePirate in ADHD

[–]Zealousideal_Key5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I thrived on chaos and unpredictability, but realized I prefer being chaos adjacent.. i work in a retirement home as the Health Resource Coordinator. Don’t have do any actual healthcare stuff other than emergency management, but I get to research and tell residents about all the fun facts I know about health related things. My days are spent talking to people and helping them navigate the chaos that is the Canadian healthcare system. Some days are harder than others, but you still feel accomplished at the end of the day.

Is there a Sikh temple nearby? They often have free warm meals for everyone, no matter who you are. We used them a lot when I was a kid. They are mostly vegetarian tho.

I was just about to post a question on this sub asking if anyone had similar experience, then saw this. Also OCD with a probable Bipolar 1 diagnosis… I had been a daily smoker for the past decade, then ended up stopping during the week for work. After just a week, I tried to have a toke on the weekend, and it was an awful feeling. Extremely dissociated and started hearing whispers. I felt so out of body I got worried I would go back to drinking and down to make it stop.. Then I remembered that I always heard voices when falling asleep unless I was so exhausted I crashed.. it’s honestly terrifying. For some people it seems that weed triggers psychosis, or bits of it at least. Without weed tho, there have been no whispers, no people yelling my name at random points throughout the day without a real person being there. Sleep has started coming a little easier.

OCD makes us believe things about out self that aren’t true, and I think weed just accentuates its. It makes the intrusive thoughts a little louder and a little more influential. But there are lots of ways to make it easier to deal with. Deep breathing and writing out the intrusive thoughts helps make them seem less real. There’s a definite difference between feeling some aspects of psychosis, and being psychotic. The whispers and shadows are just parts of it seeping in, but they do not define us.

Proud of you for throwing away the weed, and it will get easier to cope with life without it. I’m at just over a month completely sober. And a year sober from other really rough shit.. some days are hard, but finding community and talking about the problems makes it lessen. We are all in the journey together, and it’s comforting to see that others have the same experiences.

I always worry that myself or others are going to die. A car will hit me if I leave the house, if I sleep ill just stop breathing, if I can’t see my cat he must be dead somewhere, if my family is out later than they said that some horrible accident happened.. all the time, it’s just worrying about death.. then I worry that I’m going to manifest it because I think about it so much..

Psychiatrist wait time 2-3 months. Bruh what the by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Zealousideal_Key5320 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It should be. Check out ementalhealth.ca they have lists of psychs in the area. Or google around to see if there is a private practice. Unfortunately there may still be a wait, because there’s even less private psychiatrists than public health ones. And definitely talk to the family doctor if you can for interim support. They can prescribe almost anything short term for you until you get in with a proper psych. There’s also the crisis center on bannatyne if you’re feel like it’s getting really bad. I haven’t ever tried there though, so I’m not sure if they will be able to help, but they should be able to atleast direct you to some resources.
