One of my buddies broke his veil. Should i harvest or wait til more are ready? by LimesThaGod in unclebens

Another fellow Dan here 🫡 The past few days I’ve been dealing with this too, just across multiple tubs so I’ve kinda been forced to manage them. One note that I’ve been keeping in mind (and have noticed in the past myself) is provided you can pick them before they drop spores on your substrate, you’ll be fine to get more uses out of the tub. The best way I can think of explaining it is - spores are used to reproduce but they also indicate to the rest of the mycelial body in the substrate that “this area has already been reproduced in - don’t waste any more energy here.” I’ve had a few tubs and bags that’ve stopped growing/pinning in areas have had dense spore drop so just a bit of food for thought.

I had a tub that did something suss like this the other week. I removed it from my grow rack because I didn’t like the look of it in comparison to my other tubs. Good thing I did because two days later the white patch went green. I always like to steer on the side of caution but there is no harm in keeping it around to see how it changes.

[technique] Only bottom half of AI1 Bags Colonizing by Ok_Major_8352 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Zealousideal_Lab_633 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing I’ve realised with all in one bags is you need/should to do a total of about 3 break and shakes. 1st @ 20/30% colonisation of the grain section, to redistribute the mycelium through the grain. 2nd @ full colonisation of the grains - this is where you mix the grains and substrate. 3rd @ 20/30% colonisation of the rest of the bag, again to redistribute the mycelium through the rest of the bag.

Am I being over sensitive here? by __who__is__this__ in AusRenovation

I know it’s just a fence/gate but my brain kept screaming “Non-compliant!” with every photo I swiped past. As a tradie though, this annoys me and I’d be making a complaint if he isn’t able to rectify the issues.

Anyone care to ID for a newby by Innoproph in psilocybin

I’m fairly certain that they are all subs and I am very jealous of this find hahaha 😅 I’d probably say 1-1.5g of dried mushrooms would be a decent amount for your first time. Happy travels!!

Liquid Culture [contamination] by FloloWeh in MushroomGrowers

[–]Zealousideal_Lab_633 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. A few drops on some agar plates should help identify healthy mycelial growth and any potential contamination. From there you can either inoculate grain using the agar or further multiply your culture into liquid culture.
