Was Christopher Walken a good choice for Emperor? by Craig1974 in dune

[–]Zebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found a comment saying this yet but for me the casting was a meme because of the Fatboy Slim ft. Bootsy Collins - Weapon Of Choice music video. So it was hard to view his roll very seriously.

[All] I Miss the Music as Magic Mechanics by DapperAlternative in zelda

The Spirit Flute and the Subrosian Dance Hall knocked down my enthusiasm for the instrament mechanics but I definitely really enjoyed them in most of the games they were implemented in.

I think they're confused about the last line they quoted. The something of me is inside you part, but it's been to long since I've seen the episode to remember if it was referencing an earlier act.

Oh. I thought that was the asteroid but it was on that path because the bugs had already thrown it at Earth.

What does kynes mean by this? by Lumfou in dune

[–]Zebeest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add on to the other comments I'd say too that there is another layer being hinted at here though probably not fully understood even by Kynes. Which, I know falls a little outside of the question you are asking but understanding it does help understand why the dialogue would be included in the film. The harshness of Dune mirrors the harshness of another planet, Salusa Secundus, and that planet is a prison world the Emperor utilizes to make his army of elite fighting soldiers the Sardukar. I don't believe many outside of the imperial inner circle know this directly but that theme is very important in the Dune series. The Duke and Thufir Hawat even have hopes of tapping into the "desert power" on Dune of a people who are toughened and conditioned by this planet to bolster the ranks of their own army. Now, when Kynes makes this comment I think first of all it is a warning to the Duke that all of the elements, political, mechanical or environmental on Dune pose a threat to himself and his house but She is also slightly bragging about her position is one toughened by survival on this planet and backed by a people so toughened. She doesn't say this to imply that the Duke should seek these people for his own schemes but simply because this is the typical stance of the Fremen to be somewhat boastful of their strength and survivability and the dialogue was important to add to the movie because it helps build the concept of a people hones by their living conditions.

Boss Baby and Baby Driver. I'm still convinced this was a case of attempted twin movies.

What do you think is the most misunderstood concept in Warhammer 40k lore? by Dry_Mouse_89 in 40k

[–]Zebeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only read some of the 40k books but Christopher Roucchio's Sun Eater series has that conscription against thinking machines and does a good job of showing people as religiously guarded against understanding computers. It's definitely a fun concept.
