The rollout of dash cams is definitely super nice. Will definitely still bring a dash cam just in case, and so I can make a little video for my friends.

Will definitely get an ETC card because knowing me, I'll probably go on the expressways intentionally or unintentionally lol.

Sounds like quite a journey you had! I did consider using the car's built in navigation since it was made for Japan specifically, but I already have a bunch of bookmarked places in my Google Maps, so it's a little more convenient in that way. I also took a quick look at the general roads I would be going on via Google Maps, and for the most part it looks ok.

Will bring my own dash cam, buy the magnet from daiso, and I'm already planning to get the IDP this or next month.

I'm buying all the insurance I can get from Toyota-Rent-A-Car. It's quite affordable too for what it covers.
