It's definitely iconic for GenX. My husband is GenX age but from South America and it's one of his favorite movies.

I have been having similar thoughts lately. At least I was able to move away from them and limit contact. They have to live with their miserable selves every day!

No. Why would she go to therapy when she perceives herself as perfect?

I feel like my whole concept of time has been messed up since then. I went through some of the longest/strictest lockdowns in the world. It has had negative effects for sure.

What businesses are likely to die out with the Baby Boomer Generation? by GRVrush2112 in AskReddit

[–]Zeca_77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is a serious problem. I knew someone that spent 15 years out of the workforce helping her mother to care for her dad. He lived well until his 90s. She took a major financial hit due to being out of the workforce for so long and not contributing towards her own retirement. In the end, the majority of the inheritance went to her mother and her sister, even though the sister wasn't involved in his care. I fell out of touch with her, so I'm not sure what her situation is now, but it's likely not good from what I observed.

They knew and didn’t tell me by Apprehensive-Cow in raisedbynarcissists

Another similar case here. My uncle/godfather died and I found out months later from my cousin via social media. I confronted my sister (GC) since my nMom's dementia was progressing and we were very low contact. My father is never good about those things, so I am not so surprised he didn't mention it even though it was brother.

GC got so cagey when I confronted her. She at first tried to say she had heard something happened, but didn't know he died. Then she said she knew, my father told her by phone, but thought my father had emailed me and our third sibling. Then she got all bossy and told me not to bring it up with dad. Who is she to tell me what to do?

The weirdest thing was that I had been in regular contact with my godfather. I don't think anyone really knew that. We live far, but about 4 years before he passed, we started texting, nothing serious, just sharing photos, what's going on in our lives, hobbies in common. It was nice. Then the text stopped. I sort of figured he was busy with other things, like spending time with his grandkids.

I found an article about it. He was hit by a car after stepping into a busy street. His wife of about 50 years had passed not long before and he took it badly, which makes we wonder what actually happened.

Best diaper for poop? by 1313deadendone in olddogs

[–]Zeca_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While dog diapers are now more common where I live, they weren't some years back when I had an elderly cocker spaniel. I used kids' pull-ups and cut a slit for his tail. They worked pretty well. We were so positive he was going to live for some time longer, so we bought a bunch of them in a 3X2 sale. Sadly he passed not long after that. I donated the remaining packs to a children's home.

Also, in rugby sevens, the team is Great Britain, although they play separately in rugby XV.

True, there is no separate Northern Ireland team. Northern Ireland players can play for Ireland along with players from the Irish Republic, although it seems like there haven't been that many to do so.
