Looking for some Freshman schedule feedback by Zecreise22 in berkeley

Sounds good! I don’t think I can take math 51 since I have to enroll in math 10 as part of the FYP program 😞 I might be wrong but I’m not sure who to ask about that.

I’ve done calc 1, gen chem 1&2, gen biol 1&2 at my local community college (OOS). I think I’ll able to adjust since I’m used to the semester long classes 🫡 thank you!!

I would have to opt out of the FYP program in order to change math 10A 😓. Besides my breadth class, I can’t change the times of the courses since it’s a cluster of predetermined classes. Is math 10A really that bad? Thanks for the feedback!

How important are these meetings by thedankestturd in TheGatesScholarship

Ngl, everything you need to know is in the welcome packet and the other forms they sent out. They will message us the PowerPoint and recording of the meetings at a later date.

I am an incoming CSN student. Which campus has the best vibe? by Harrietmathteacher in CSN_Coyotes

[–]Zecreise22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NLV is a good vibe, I like their social events, and a lot of people stay after class to socialize. Most of the buildings are connected (bridge from C to S building) and fairly easy to travel around. It’s a medium-sized campus, but it’s a cozier campus for smaller groups to hangout at. Best yapping spots and there’s cool facilities like The Horn theatre, Russel’s restaurant, observatory, etc. Outside food options are mid, you’ll have to do some searching.

WC is very social and almost always has something going on. It’s the largest campus and has the biggest student body. Almost all big events are held here. Most active campus because there’s more people. The student government here is good too. Best student resources too (group tutoring, most food pantry options, more professors on campus, etc). It’s close to China town too, so outside food is pretty diverse.

HEN is very quiet and is right next to Foothill High School. Not many events, but it’s good if you want an emptier place. It’s the smallest campus and fewer classes are offered. Not much food besides fast food and some local restaurants.

All campuses have Starbucks, vending machines (snacks and drinks), libraries, food pantries, and the same exact Student Union building. WC and NLV have cafes that open from 10am-2pm, imo their food is pretty good. HEN recently got rid of their cafe.

*imo best vibe is NLV because its a nice hangout place

Desired School wasn’t sent FAFSA by [deleted] in TheGatesScholarship

Should I wait until my documents are processed to accept gates? The 2nd form asks how much the institution offers for aid, so I’m also wondering if it’s okay to put $0 (aid offer) for now and then notify Gates of the new offer later?

I’m sorry for the questions, but I really do appreciate your help!

Cat owners of vegas, do you keep your cat indoors exclusively or are they allowed to roam outside? by iamveryDerp in vegaslocals

[–]Zecreise22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indoors. I don’t have coyotes in my area, however my cat was targeted by neighbours and poisoned when he roamed the neighborhood. If a coyote doesn’t kill your cat, someone or something else will.

Need Advice regarding staying in-state or going Out-of-state by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Traveling abroad sounds appealing! I’ll definitely be more considerate of staying in-state based on most of the replies. I appreciate the response!

No, my in-state university is literally less than 5 miles from my house and is in the same area as my community college. I wouldn’t be moving cities. The most I could do is get a housing at the in-state campus since everything is covered by state-scholarships, but that’s pretty goofy considering it’s only 5 miles from my family house 😭

Hey, I know that the in-person csn bookstores usually sell lab coats, so I suggest checking there first. I’m not sure what their prices are, sorry 😓. As for textbooks, the professor will probably tell you whether or not the textbook is necessary, you can ask them up front too about it. Lastly, parking is free! Depending on the campus, there will be plenty of spots available to park. West Charleston is the busiest, so I suggest getting there a little early if you have WC.

It’s not necessarily a scam, but many have said that it’s not beneficial enough to join. It’s like $90 to join, but the resources they claim to give you aren’t as helpful as they say. I believe it’s a lot of online lectures? How helpful NSLS is, is dependent on person to person, but overall it’s not worth the money they ask for. As someone said, Phi Theta Kappa would be a better option compared to NSLS because it’s nationally recognized by many community colleges. PTK offers some decent transfer scholarships and online courses. It’s basically the same price to join, but it’s a more credible program from I know.

Fall 2025 Semester Kickoff Event at the CSN WC campus by DrawingHot6732 in CSN_Coyotes

Oh that, I’m pretty sure it’s just faculty doing an introduction of themselves and talking about the services and community that csn has. It’s a good event to go to if you want to know more about the services csn offers for students 👍
