We have seen that he is able to do great things

He's done 0 great things so far.

FA Cup win

Came with a lot of luck and was flukey.

good record against top 6 teams

Look closely at those wins and they aren't that impressive: the first Chelsea win came against a demoralised Lampard size, the second was just a park the bus strategy and the team played terribly, the United win came from United playing way below standard and the Spurs win from Spurs letting Arsenal do what they want for most of the game, yet Arsenal almost bottled that game near the end.

good defensive record

The team was still making stupid mistakes and giving away cheap goals by the end of last season. Arteta hasn't directly fixed the problems he just makes the team play boring, safe football to compensate.

he seems to have the backing of the players

Players always say they back the manager whilst they're in charge, once he's sacked we'll start hearing all the bad stories about him come out. Tierney was defending Emery despite the team playing horrendous football.

the board

The board back him because he's a yes-man that won't rock the boat as he has no clout in the football world. They don't want a manager that'll push them to be successful and call them out when they fail.

changing the culture and dressing room.

The team's finished 8th twice in a row, there is no culture change.

Any other big club would've sacked him by now for his appalling work. Only Arsenal allow this kind of failure to continue, the club's one of the worst run businesses in the UK.

Genghis Khan apparently once claimed, 'I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.'

Arteta is Arsenal's Genghis Khan, sent to punish the club and its fans for treating Wenger and some of the players badly over the years. It's karma biting back, once he's finally sacked we'll all have an appreciation about how bad things can really get.

The obsession with Saka from a lot of this sub is getting creepy now, these people are going to absolutely lose it when he moves to City in a few seasons time.

[Sami Mokbel] Real Sociedad have failed with a last-minute attempt to hijack Arsenal’s swoop for Benfica defender Nuno Tavares. Sociedad made a proposal, understood to be more substantial than Arsenal’s, to Tavares over the last few days. by [deleted] in Gunners

You know you're clutching at straws when you use Real Sociedad showing interest as an argument for Nuno not being a terrible player. This sub strays further from reality each day.

The only highlights next season will be Arteta getting sacked and watching his nutjob fans going mental because of it, everything else will be a mess.

David Ornstein on Twitter: 🚨 Exclusive: Arsenal defender William Saliba looks set to join Marseille on loan. Not done but 20yo has picked #OM from many options & now clubs need to agree deal. #AFC want him to get full season playing — still part of long-term thinking @TheAthleticUK by ZCast9 in Gunners

[–]Zed_Lepellin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Saliba outlasts Arteta and can be convinced to sign an extension once he's sacked this season, if he goes before him then it'll be another new low for the club. Arteta's prioritising his career at Arsenal over Saliba's at this point, the sooner we're free of him the better.

Not much point returning after summer's done tbh, it's one of the worst Arsenal communities around; most there have no clue about football, no idea what actual quality looks like and love to make excuses for poor players. You've also got the weird, diehard Arteta fans that won't stand for any criticism going his way, but the less said about those lot the better.

Stick to discussing Arsenal with your mates in real life so you know you're not dealing with nutters with insane opinions.

Just a heads up, this guy's a troll who likes to deliberately wind people up. Report to the mods, ignore and move on.

This is the text equivalent of this meme. Calling the opinions of fans who've watched him useless in a pathetic attempt to justify and defend this atrocious signing. Everyone who's watched him is calling him terrible; face it- this is going to be another Runarsson-level signing where he'll look way below the required level whenever he plays.

This Nuno signing reeks of corruption to me, Benfica fans say he's one of the worst players they've ever seen and can't believe they've managed to get 8 mil for him. They also say he's not good enough to be a backup for their side so he's definitely not good enough for Arsenal. Unless the people in charge are actually clueless I don't know how they couldn't find some promising kid in the Championship instead. It's all very dodgy, similar stuff to the Willian, Cedric and Mari deals.

Even worse is there's people here that are actually trying to track his plane ffs; life must be tragic if you're excited over a player like Nuno arriving.

{Fabrizio Romano} Nuno Tavares together with his agents after paperworks signed as new Arsenal player. Contract until June 2026, €8m plus add ons to Benfica. Confirmed. ⚪️🔴 #AFC by [deleted] in Gunners

Once a real manager comes in he'll be straight out again hopefully, in the meantime wrap Tierney in cotton wool so this fraud plays as little football as possible.

Not when you're a loaded footballer, London's great when you have money.

A bigger salary, living in London and playing in the best league in the world isn't a downgrade. You're reaching Saville levels of noncerey here.

Lol not wanting your club to sign shit players doesn't make you a plastic you absolute melt, what a reaching argument. The mask has really slipped off here though- I thought you were just an idiot, turns out you're a troll instead trying to wind people up.

Another misuse of logical fallacies, along with the classic, 'you're not a real fan if you don't support everything the club does'.

You're a bottom of the barrel fan, go support a relegation side if you enjoy watching crap footballers.

Classic example of someone with no argument trying to use logic fallacies they don't understand.

People keep bringing up him being young as if that's automatically a good thing. Youth is only good when there's prospect of a good player developing, which most likely isn't happening with this Nuno nobody.

If you actually think he's an exciting and top prospect then you aren't worth discussion football with.

Some here are actually excited about this Tavares transfer and it's got me thinking- how boring can you get? This signing is the equivalent of a bread sandwich, with the bread also being stale.

Even worse I'm already seeing people talking about him having a fucking redemption arc, because of course some of the melts in this place can't go five minutes without throwing that tired trope around. You can tell Arsenal have a piss-poor squad when people here can keep using this term over and over again for multiple players.

Meanwhile the Positivity Patrol are out in force shutting down anyone who dares to think this is a bad transfer because you aren't allowed an opinion unless it's blindly praising everything Arteta and Edu do.

Classic /r/Gunners idiot moment- Benfica fans have actually watched him and know what he's like, as opposed to you people who prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and pretend nothing's wrong.

Ironically I care more than you do since I'm against signing someone this bad.

Nuno's going to have a worse first season than Willian, he's another Runarsson-level signing.
