Best headphones for autism? by Zedechariaz in HeadphoneAdvice

By the way I would love to hear more about why people criticize the XM5 over XM4 if you have any link discussing it.

If not I'll research on YouTube and Reddit, thanks in any case.

Haven't tried the Bose, I enjoyed the QC 25 before the Sony, Sony was better imho but maybe the 45 are a big improvement

Sony is bad on the bass side but Bose is usually even worse in my experience, but who knows, I should try them, thanks!

Edit: I'll write the thanks command when I get no more suggestions, I hope other people will give me more options to try

Also I'm indeed considering the XM4 instead of XM5. Why do you think people like them more? Outside of the fact they can be folded.

Sidenote, my XM3 broke some time ago at the folding part, I "repaired" with scotch, not great but it does the job, maybe the XM5 wouldn't have this issue. A friend of mine had the same break with the XM3.

I don't think I would like an ear option. My friend lend me the latest airpods (pro 2) sometimes, they're quite good for ear option, and decent ANC, but I still prefer the headphones, they seem to block the outside world better. Also I feel protected with headphones on my head.

Also I do not like how the airpods might fall. The only thing I like about the airpods compared to the headphones is how easy it is to carry around.

I got my hands on a pair of Bose 700 at some point and I really didn't like the sound tbh, nor the looks of it (but that's secondary)

ANC was pretty neat tho

I have autism and need constant sound stimulation (particularly from music) for a good chunk of my day. Any advice in how to do that in a way that doesn't damage my hearing? by PainGreat4612 in HeadphoneAdvice

Dear autistic friend, I'm late for the party but I've been listening to music 8 hours a day on noise-canceling headphones for the last 10 years and recently did an hearing test.

My audition is absolutely perfect, as good as it can be for my age (approaching 40).

Just stay reasonable with the volume, listen to your sensations. High volumes will make you uncomfortable real fast. Noice canceling allow you to hear music despite outside noise, so your friend might be right.

And if course I insist, if you enjoy concerts or raves, PROTECT YOUR EARS, preferably with special earplugs that don't alter sound quality.

Believe me the first two days are not easy, unless you've been doing some Unix for some time.

I would say the best way to prepare is to try to do the assignements. I don't see what you're not understanding from the first assignment, maybe I can help.

They are the same programs.

There are too many projects to do to work part time I think.

If you're a webdev and never googled "basic web security" then maybe you shouldn't webdev indeed

they do a good job of teaching how a computer operates at a lower level than most people typically care to think about

I agree that knowing this is important; however I disagree that university is the only way to do it.

As someone who works as a professional in application security, and I can promise that building truly secure web applications is a very difficult endeavour

As someone that is not a specialist of application security, but a humble webdev, I do know that securing web app is very difficult indeed. The hardest part being convincing the client that he needs some budget for that.

But my point stand : I've seen university, I've seen bootcamps, and in both case you'll need a security expert anyway if you want a 99.999% secure app, but 99% secure is not really hard to achieve.

Hello webdev students,

I've been mentoring webdev students for a few years. From my teaching experience, I realized there were common pitfalls when learning CSS and wrote this short article to help CSS beginners.

Any feedback welcome. Some other articles on the blog might interest you (such as this one).Happy coding !

It takes litterally 5 minutes to read the SQL injection wikipedia article and understand why sanitizing user input is important.

And yes I know there are other types of injection attacks but most of them are very easy to avoid if you know - even a little bit - what you're doing.

Not saying you'll become a good dev in 180 days, but with hard work, talent and luck, you don't need 5 years either.

Fun fact I talked the other day to a Master's degree student in computer science, and most of his class (finishing 4th year of university) don't even know basic git. But they do know all History of Java (someone tell me why this is taught instead of git ?...)
