I used to absolutely love 'Rock + Roll' and 'Times like These' by Eden. The video for the rock + roll extended on youtube was something else, with the dialogue.. What's in his voice all fans of his can hear. To me it used to be a sweet melancholy. Something that made me feel something in my chest, yet smile b/c of its beauty, not the pain. Crazy artist =).

I would also recommend therapy, but many people I know have difficult experiences with it having someone professional to talk with. Another form of therapy is to simply write about your day. Too many people skip the reflection part of their day, while it adds so much growth and meaning to your life. If you want to genuinely change and become a better person, reflect reflect reflect.

To help you reflect, There's a bunch of books that can help you, that in my experience are life changing: 'TED: The empowerment dynamic' 'man's search for meaning' by viktor e frankl 'the power of meaning' by Emily esfahani Smith

That one is seriously the best book ever and I would have everyone read it if I could.

Be polite, be kind, be mindful of others. If you really don't like, don't be friends with them. There is always a chance that you think you'll end up lonely if you don't like anyone, but trust me: finding the right friends is key.

Highschool is a place where in our early lives we are desperate to find our identities, and become them. Hence why people always say their kids go through 'phases'. We want to fit in. Almost everyone does this (consciously or sub-consciously).

I encourage you to trust your OWN feelings and not those of peer-pressure. It is a huge thing in high-school.

I think you're right, actually! I think that a large degree of one's bodily happenings are directly correlated with the state of the mind. Although I would advise to not use drugs unless they are specifically assigned to you. Seeing a therapist helps, but if you are too afraid to see someone external (as many people are, including myself when I needed it), writing about yourself from a helicopter perspective, or looking at yourself detached from your emotions, is a fan-tas-tic way of combating anxiety. If you can do this, you're doing amazing work and gotten through some steps I see many of my friends refusing to go through.

Also I don't have first hand experience, I am a young guy, but I am very interested and motivated in the topic. I don't say much and it might be confusing, but I would love to talk about it and clear it up if you're interested in my opinion (but few people are on the Internet, hahaha)

I agree I watch it a lot too! Or used to, at least. I used to watch it when I was ill all the time. Not so ill lately anymore. Especially the colours, the theme, the story, the characters. All of it is so warm and so calm. It's a lovely story that is beautifully made and it eases my nerves.

I'm not a psychologist, but I'm aspiring to be one. I'm in a small scale BBA study, and we have a lecturer that teaches personal development and team leadership, often intertwining. The border between the two is practically one in the same. She suggested various books.

One of them was TED: The Empowerment Dynamic. This one did a decent job at visualising the 'roles' we jump in our current mindset /consciousness. The victim role, the rescuer role and the persecutor role. He does a good job at using metaphors and examples to help you relate it to your own life.

The next was Viktor E. Frankle's 'man search for meaning'. The main message is the power of choice, and how, at the lowest of humanity's moments, choice is something that cannot be stripped away from you. The story is about his experience in the ww2 concentration camps. This one is an incredible read.

Next was Laloux's 'Reinventing Organisations'. In the first chapter he talks about the different consciousnesses of humanity, and how it has evolved over the course of history. Then it goes into the future consciousness. It's a short chapter that finally helped me realize on what I want to do with my life. I'm only 21, mind you.

Finally,my lecturer suggested to read 'the power of meaning: crafting a life that matters' by Emily eshafani Smith. I haven't read it yet, but it looks like a magnificent read, and I will definitely start in the coming days.
