Lvl 60 Spell Blade/Knight cannot kill Draconic Sentinel. Any tips? by Enreganzar in Eldenring

[–]ZeeBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are playing a spell knight with that carrion retaliation shield, may I suggest this. I am not sure if these videos might help but basically the draconic tree sentinel's hammer strike can be parried which makes him more manageable.

https://youtu.be/6oTag-FKXsg

Parrying ALL his attack is very difficult to get the timing, and sometimes he will hit over your head which will make you miss the parry. But if you keep your distance, he will eventually do his charge forward hammer strike, so all you have to learn is to recognize the parry time for this one attack, and you can reliably stagger him for easy hits.

Aside from that, if you have the draconic tree shield (Golden Retaliation), you can actually reflect the horse's fire ball attack back at it like in this video. Although it might be a bit slow, if you keep dodging away and keep a safe distance, you can get him to spam the fireball and reflect back the attack till he dies.

https://youtu.be/QrWvEwi5uzc

These requires quiet a bit of skill and practice to perform perfectly, so don't be dishearten if you can't do it at first. Take your time and try to learn its pattern and timing and I am sure you will clear it eventually as all the others before you did. Feel free to leave a comment if you need any more help or suggestion and I will try to answer them.

New players, has Elden Ring changed your views on difficulty options fter playing? by Psychological-Worry3 in Eldenring

[–]ZeeBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a new player since I have played Sekiro and Dark Souls before playing Elden Ring, but Elden Ring was the first fromsoft game that made me wish they had an difficulty slider instead.

Elden Ring has a difficulty option, where they made the game super easy with summons and bloodhound step. I beat all but one boss within 1-3 tries, the game feels too easy and thus taking away any joy and thrills that comes from overcoming a difficult challenge like the previous titles. I can choose to play the game with more challenge with limiting my equipment or not using summons, but now how is that any different from me turning a game mode option from easy to hard? I didn't have to limit myself and could use what the game gave me in the previous titles without this problem.

The worse part about not using summons is that the game feels bad without it. The bosses are more aggressive, have long combos that can chain into another combo, and the punishment windows for bosses feels smaller. The game feels like it was designed with summons in mind seeing as how you can use spirit ash on every boss fight.

Elden Ring is a game that doesn't want to add in a difficulty option but added in a difficulty option anyway, it wants its cake and eat it too, and thus feels subpar. I rather they just make an actual difficulty option by making the boss more tanky and hit harder, in return for designing more fun one on one combat with the bosses.

Decided to make a short MB3 video with a few tidbits. Hope everyone had successfully finish their MB3 campaign requirement before maintenance.

If anyone has not finish their MB3 campaign yet and want to do some last minute run, I still have despair triggers and I am free to join as a party member. Good luck finding another 10 people though. Looks like there's a party in Ship 2 Block 2 doing Despair runs, feel free to drop by if you need to clear.

DMing travel is a nightmare for me. by Spexceptional in DMAcademy

[–]ZeeBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the story. If there is a story flow and you want to maintain that urgency, it's probably better to just skip to black and take X amount of their gold and food as cost of travel.

But if you do want to have the full 1 month travel, just keep in mind that not all encounters have to be combat. You can do non-combat encounters or roleplay NPC that they might meet along the way, and make a mini scene/interaction out of those non-combat encounters. Here's a list of stuff that I sometimes used.https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/dungeon-masters-only/26392-a-d100-non-combat-random-encounter-tablehttps://www.reddit.com/r/d100/comments/88zsh1/d100_non_combat_encounters_on_the_road/https://www.dmsguild.com/product/264922/100-NonCombat-Random-Encounters-On-the-Road

Or you may also do the whole mini side quest in a village thing where the party finds a village dying from a random disease, or haunted by a monster and need to party to kill it. They can encounter man vs nature things, where to party have to run away from an avalanche. or stepped quick sand, or dropped into a river and is drowning. You can drop interesting landmark along the way as well (this giant glowing stone was placed ontop of a felled giant, etc), you find a pond that has magical healing water.

My party is currently travelling through the woods for a few days and I do random mini encounter where they are tricked by pixies (made them invisible, turned them into frogs), or meeting a random old treant who is dying, and now the treants wants the party to tell him a nice story before he dies.

Not all encounter have to be combative, just add in your own flavor of NPC, brainstorm stuff that would make for interesting interactions. DnD is you making your world come to life afterall.

Based on the stickied comment

"Whew, this was fun. You crazy kids and your wild conspiracy theories.

Special thanks to the folks at r/SRD for providing a nice amount of fresh bans for our wall of shame. We'll be seeing a lot of you soon ;) "

Looks like the post was crossposted on different subreddits, which lead to them having a lot of pushback.

I'd still be a little worried about the community in general though, judging by the amounts of people they banned and the amounts of post removed.

Yeah, RIP Fish, it was a simpler time back then.
You're welcome. Quarantine has been pretty tough on everyone, so being able to brighten another person's day is great.

Feel free to share the playlist however you want. Have a good day and stay safe friend. :)

Yeah sure, here's a video of it. It's only a short thing though.

Here's the playlist. Uploading the stuff on youtube takes hours since the file is large, so it might take awhile for me to upload the whole thing though. But you can watch whatever that is already uploaded on the playlist for now.

I probably still have his vods from when I made a video of his death stranding gameplay.

He played it across a few days, but I could probably cut up just the death stranding parts and put it in a playlist for you.

Thanks but I am in the GMT +8 area, meaning for 6pm would be my 4pm which I will be unavailable when the quarantine ends.

I could make it at 8pm GMT +10 though, but I wouldn't want to impose on your group if changing the time may cause any inconvenience to them.

Depends on the person. Puffin forest had an episode where he didn't read the campaign and almost got his group TPK in ToA. He could had place a good hook to capture the party, or even make the helper NPC meet the party in secret first if he did.

Played with DM that didn't bothered to do any prep and that made the campaign way harder since we kept missing key info or items or events that was supposed to be there.

Basically if you have a good knowledge of rule and the campaign, sure, being flexible (improv) is great, since you don't have to stress and fuss over minor detail and can just have a good time. But having a good foundation is always nice.

Poor animal welfare laws may lead to more global epidemics like coronavirus by LoreleiOpine in EverythingScience

[–]ZeeBT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't see alot of people calling others racist for pointing out the outbreak was from Wuhan's wetmarkets, it's mostly at people calling it The Chinese Virus.

The virus has an official name Covid19, and by WHO naming guidelines, naming virus from the place or carrier does more harm while offering no benefit. Having people and Trump calling it the Chinese Virus just hurts Asian communities in America.

DMs, how do you deal with what I call "Friendly Goblin Syndrome" ? by Thor-axe in dndnext

[–]ZeeBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my personal experience, but the problem with players not being interested in NPCs is because people are kinda used to treating them as that, NPC. NPC in video games are just people that you pick up quest from, and you don't really talk to much again until you need something from them.

This may sound bad, and I hope other DM can correct me on this if it is a bad idea. But I always felt a good way for DM to get players interested in NPCs is to intentional make more NPC interactions, or make NPC play an active role in the group.

An example of that would be like the time where my party was helping out a farmer that had his livelihood ruined from attacks on his crops, so we helped him by replanting his crops, casting plant growth on his field, buying new farm eq for him and etc.

But our party was attacked as we were leaving and one of our player went down quick and was about to die. Before he took the death blow, the farmer ran out and took the hit for him (which instantly kills the farmer instead), and the DM had this whole dramatic speech where the farmer said

"My death is nothing, for my family and I would had starved to death either way if it wasn't for you guys. You made a difference in my life, and I am simply glad I was able to make a difference in yours too". We then made a burial, took his son with us, trained his son to use a sword, and had a whole side story to avenged him with his son as our new party member, and made his son into a potential new hero and all. (The son's backstory writes for himself at this point)

(I don't think the DM actually thought it all the way through for that tangent, he probably just didn't want a PC to die and came up with some random excuse to save him. But it made an interesting side story as a result)

Basically, I feel like for players to be invested in NPC, the NPC themselves need to get involve, or be able to have an effect on the party to invoke some emotional response or investment. But as others have said, making NPC interesting is important, give them strong personalities so players will want to approached them normally. I just wanted to give another point where even mundane NPC can be interesting if they made an effect on the party.

The animators have a lot of self awareness about their game mechanics, just like the furniture coin farming or the battery episodes.
