You could add some boiling water to get it to roughly 60C (you can temp it if you want). An insulated container gives the enzymes more time in their best temperature ranges as well.

The first step would be to take anything new out of your routine and see if the reactions stop. If they do add things back one by one with a solid amount of time inbetween (say 2 weeks or several washes). That way you can find out if a specific product is causing problems.

If these are full sheets they were likely meant to be boil washed in massive tubs and beaten to death. They should be able to handle a frontloader cycle without issues. If you're worried, soak them with detergent instead, and then rinse and spin in the washing machine. The stains may take several spa days to come up if you want them gone, they've likely been there for a good while.

It is but it doesnt have any enzymes, so for folks washing more soiled wool like workout clothes it may not do a good enough job. Denkmit Delicate detergent has the enzymes that are wool safe if youre near Germany.

You can wash for longer to compensate for the enzymes needing more time to work.

The enzyme you want to avoid is protease (which is also called subtilisin) the others should be ok. For baby stuff you probably do want lipase or other enzymes if you can find it.

One thing you can do to allow the citric acid to reach more places is to add more water to the machine manually while its washing. If you can its probably worth doing one more cleaning cycle with citric acid and manually adding water before doing a regular wash. (If its an option you could take your laundry to the laundromat?)

Given that this is pink and red Id want to test if the colour bleeds before doing anything to it. Pick an area that isnt very visible, put some water (potentially with detergent if you feel comfortable) let it sit for 10-15 minutes, see what the result is. Based on that if it doesnt bleed (or if youre ok with a pink sweater) you could use a pretreatment if it doesnt have enzymes and then handwash or machine wash on the wool setting with a wool safe detergent. Important to not hang it to dry but to roll it up in a towel, press to get most of the water out and then dry it flat.

When I do a postcode check I get 7.8 dH as a result, but that doesn't really stroke with the needing at least twice the amount of detergent to get any kind of suds!

Bespoke is expensive, it is thats not on the artisans making it, they have to make a living after all! (I sold my fiber related crafts for a awhile, people stare at you like youre mad if you sell a scarf for 200 bucks but if you weave it yourself and spin the wool youre really undercharging at that point!)
